After reading about Uptown Pizza in the Perth Pizza Hunters FB group, my girlfriend and I ventured out there on a rainy evening for an early dinner tonight. The restaurant had only just opened for the evening, so whilst my photos make it look empty, it soon had a few other couples, and did a reasonable takeaway trade whilst we were there. Service was inviting, the choice in music was great and the booths were great to sit in. They allow BYO for $2 a person, and it felt very civilised after a week of lockdown to eat out. The lockdown doesn’t seem to be inviting for use of the share tables, however I’m sure in normal times, they get full. We tried two [pizzas, the Whitehouse and the Williamsburg. We were willing to try the Whitehouse now that the crazy millionaire is no longer residing, and Williamsburg was an interesting neighbourhood I explored when I stayed in Brooklyn a decade or so ago. Anyway, onto the food. The Whitehouse consists of fior di latte, ricotta, evoo, caramelised onion and parsley with a sesame seed crust. I thought the sesame seed was just a gimmick, but it was amazing how the taste came through. I’m fairly sure I’ve never noticed sesame seed rolls before, this was fascinating. With a super thin base, and this tasty big crust, this was by far my favourite. The caramelised onion added a flavour that just put it into one of my favourites immediately. Next up, we also shared the Williamsburg, another good pizza, topped with mozzarella, parmesan, mushrooms and spinach. Once again, a thin base and a nicely chewy crust that stood out. Overall, my eating partner and I both preferred the Whitehouse. I was very surprised with the sesame seed and the caramelised onion. I’ll be back to have this again, and work through other offerings on their very American influenced menu,.

I reached out to Uptown Pizza to enquire about the Chicago style pizza which i read somewhere that they may be making soon. While at it i discovered that they are a pretty awesome pizza spot so decided to drop by with the fam. We went for The O.G., The Uptown and The Meatpacker with some wings ofcourse 😉 the dough was as fresh as 👌🏾 really loved the pepperoni they use 🤤. The gaming corner is a cool addition. The kids really love it (sorry my kids dropped a controller 🤭) We will surely be back again and we will keep an eye out on that Chicago style pizza 😉

Amazing service , amazing pizza. Love this small retro pizza shop. Greeted by a very accommodating Scottish chef who's very passionate about cooking pizza. The gluten free pizza is crispy and the best I've ever had, and top that off with the flavour of the meatballs and special tomato sauce is magic. Highly recommended this place for family as there are free retro video games to play and definitely good for date night or catch up with friends. They offer take away also. Thank you for the best experience and tasting pizza everytime we visit. Ferne and Adam.

I ordered pizza today for delivery. I got a message telling me it had been delivered - no it wasn’t. Your deliverer delivered it to the wrong address. 25 minutes later he brought me a cold pizza that had been sitting outside someone else’s house! No thank you, you can keep it. I won’t be ordering from you again and will happily not be recommending your appalling service to everyone I know.

Response to your reply:

I got the message the pizza was delivered at 8.43pm, I called the number on your website by 8.45 (when I saw that no - nothing delivered) that rang out four times - no answer. I went to the contact box and composed a message - that wouldn’t send; “we are unable to send your message at this time”. I messaged your delivery driver who thought it was OK to say “Oh, okay I must have dropped it at the wrong place…”. No one answered your phone, your website contact page is ‘broken’ and you deliver cold pizzas to the wrong address!

Yes - YOUR driver. It is irrelevant if they do or don’t work for you directly. If you’re going to use a third party, use a competent one and take responsibility for their ineptitude when it’s this evident.

Tell me where I haven’t given you the opportunity to correct this?!

Yes - I’m not happy. A long day, too tired to cook - going to bed on an...

Previously called at Uptown and ordered pizza and found them to be very good, having a nice fully cooked base, adequate topping without too much tomato base spread. Last night ordered a delivery of two pizzas, the experience was at the other end of the scale, undercooked base, hardly any topping on the pizzas and almost cold when delivered. Taking account of the price Up Town charge - ‘should have gone to Dominoes.’ The shop might claim to have been busy as when ordering it was reported on-line to be a 50 minute service, which it was but that should not be the excuse for delivering a poor sub-standard product by throwing them in and out of the oven in less time than that required to cook a pizza properly.

Since posting my original review I have not abandoned Uptown Pizza particularly as previously they have always hit the mark as reported by others. The considered response I received from Uptown Pizza is reassuring as no companies get it right all the time but as reported by Uptown it is the intention. A bit of a challenge, if not a vicious circle, being so popular as that ensures high demand for their pizza’s whilst still having to meet existing customer expectations. I appreciate the genuine manner in which Uptown has dealt with and responded to the disappointment I...
