This cafe advertises “take-away” coffee, and I paid the full price of a take-away large long black. However, the coffee was sooo hot in its single cup that couldn’t be practically taken away. When I mentioned this to owner, he happily charged me an extra 50 cents for an extra cup so that I’m able to “take away” the takeaway coffee I ordered to have.
I really don’t mind if they give me a paper tray or paper cup or a cup with a handle, I just didn’t understand why the customer should pay extra so they can deliver what they promise.
Additional comment: very disappointed with below response as the added details doesn’t change the fact that I still could not take away my large hot long black and the owner could not care less as he was not the one holding it. I was in a rush and did not have time to listen to the lousy “napkin” solution or to argue over what take-away should mean, so paid to solve the problem myself and avoided burning myself or others...
Read moreI have had the pleasure of working a lot near this hidden gem. I had no idea this place existed until I started working in the building. Great food, service and reasonable prices coffee is fantastic, breakfast is fresh and there are some gems like the bacon and egg croissant. Then later on its hard to go past the whistle-stop burger, home made beef patties, fried onions, cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato and some tasty sauce. Comes with some very fresh tasy chips/fries....
Read moreMade a whistle stop at the Whistle Stop café and was pleasantly surprised... Decent coffee and good range of soft drinks, sandwiches, pies and pastries... But also a surprisingly wide selection of hot food... Besides the expected sausage rolls, burgers and chips, there is an Asian-run kitchen serving daily specials: eg nasi lemak, teriyaki chicken, Cantonese hor fun noodles... Also freshly-rolled sushi! So all in all, a very handy...
