I've just deleted my original review and am posting this one as Sayers little brother just isn't the same any more.
I live very close to this café and have done so for about 8 years now, I knew the previous owner quite well and used to love going down there and getting my coffee etc. and always enjoyed the food and service.
This is very much no longer the case.
The new owners seemed to have started skimping on quality and service and it shows terribly.
Twice in the last few weeks some friends of mine and I have gone there for breakfast and both times have been left wanting when it comes to the quality of food and the service.
But yesterday was by far the worst we've had since the change of ownership.
The 4 of us walked in for breakfast just before 8AM, and while there were a few people there, it was far from packed and we were served quite quickly.
We sat down and our food and drinks started to come out, but nothing came out at even remotely the same time, I understand we all didn't order on one bill, but timing the drinks and food to come together to people dining at the same table is a fairly minor ask.
One of my friends had gotten her food (ham'n'cheese croissant before I even got my coffee... but her coffee didn't come out till after mine did!?!?
I ordered their breaky bagel which has been a firm favourite for years, but when it was bought out to me it was like a rock, it had clearly been heated in the microwave for FAR too long, I couldn't even cut into it with the knives at the table. Asked for them to take it back and the one I got in exchange felt undercooked and squishy. I'm not even remotely sure how they heated that one.
My partner also ordered the corn and leek croquette and was thoroughly unimpressed by it, said it tasted like it had just been thrown together with very little care.
Suffice to say we don't intend to return which is a damned shame as this was such a lovely and convenient...
Read moreI'm lucky enough to live quite close to these guys and as such I go in here on a very regular basis to get coffee and various bits of food, I've also taken a number of friends there for breakfast or lunch.
The staff here are always friendly and I've gotten to know the manager quite well and enjoy talking to them and the other people working here, I have some food allergies that conflict with one of their standard dishes but these guys are nice enough to make me one with said ingredients removed when I ask for it.
Coffee is always good from here and they include a small treat with each one which Is a touch that I love and have raved to others about.
When I have gone here and dined in the service has always been great, and the food has been high quality, fresh and where relevant nice and hot. I've not heard any complaints from any of the people I've taken...
Read moreI’ve been here for my lunch break twice this week, lovely smiling staff, nice layout and very quick service. I had a simple Vegemite toasty the first time, what a nice surprise when I’ve noticed they actually use sourdough bread! Cheese was more a mozzarella style cheese, absolutely lovely and the amount of Vegemite was absolutely perfect. Lovely how a simple toast can actually be so perfect and delicious. The second time I had the egg-mayo toast, it’s definitely to die for! What an amazing combination of flavours in a such simple toast! I really appreciate the way they can make easy bite so perfect and tasty. Very impressed. Thank you chef for making my quick bite an amazing lunch! Service is very quick even in a busy time and the smiling staff it’s absolutely what you’re looking for when you walk into a cafe. Looking forward to...
