Al Amir Restaurant in Fairy Meadow is a place where authentic Lebanese flavours come to life, offering a menu that moves from classic mezza to generous mains. The experience begins with dips that are staples of the cuisine. Baba Ghanouj, made with smoked eggplant, tahini and labne, has a rich, earthy depth while hommus is light, airy and delicately seasoned. Labne, strained to a creamy texture, comes with olives, mint and olive oil, giving a refreshing balance to the table.
The hot mezza dishes add both comfort and character. Haloumi, caramelised in honey and thyme, blends sweet and savoury beautifully with a sprinkle of pistachio dukkah. Batata bi Kizbara, twice-cooked potatoes tossed in garlic and chilli oil with fresh coriander, is a flavourful favourite, while sambousek and kibbeh bring traditional authenticity, crisp on the outside and filled with hearty flavour inside.
For those who love grilled meats, the mixed skewers offer a little of everything with kafta mishwe, shish tawook and laham mishwe served alongside bread, garlic dip and fresh accompaniments. The fattoush salad provides a bright contrast, with crunchy Lebanese bread and a tangy pomegranate molasses dressing.
The slow-cooked specialties highlight the heart of Lebanese home cooking. Mahashi, zucchini stuffed with rice and minced meat in a tomato sauce with tender lamb, is rich and comforting. Mansaf Lamb is a true highlight, with braised lamb layered over spiced rice, roasted nuts and yoghurt sauce, served alongside salad and creamy dressing. Seafood is also well represented with creamy garlic prawns, where tiger prawns are cooked in a velvety garlic sauce and paired with steamed rice.
Al Amir blends generosity, flavour and tradition in a way that captures the essence of Lebanese dining, making it a destination for both casual meals and...
Read moreBeen there twice over the last couple months and the service was disgusting and slow, waiter had limited/poor English (No issue with that just made asking for things hard/difficult) place was not even busy. Went in with a table of 10, 4 ppl were running late so the first 6 ordered basically the same meal and then 15 mins later the other 4 turned up and ordered same as the other. After taking orders of the last 4 they came out 10mins later and told us that they had run out lamb and had to change the meals around.. When the meals came out later they came out all iver the place and not what we had changed our orders too some ppl had finished eating by the time all the meals came out was shocking. I told our waiter we were not happy and he said he would fix something up in the bill for us. When we went to pay i mentioned it to the manager (Hanni) and he basically called me a liar and went and argued with his wait staff in front of everyone and then came back and he still didnt believe me so i just paid and left..
I then decided to go back (not my choice family member picked it for a small birthday) this time same terrible slow service and terrible manager no smile, rude and looked like he didn't want to be there. He helped serve us we asked for some extra bread and pickles basically threw them at us. We had to keep following up on our order when the restaurant wasnt even that busy.. The manager made this experience even worse cause he was so rude and had no customer service skills what so ever.
There was another gentlemen there this time (Akeel, I hope I spelt that correct) he was lovely tried to help as best he could alot better than the manager..
Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone or at least not while that...

The food was absolutely outstanding. Every dish was bursting with flavour—from the perfectly grilled meats to the creamy hummus, fresh tabbouleh, and warm, pillowy bread. You can genuinely taste the passion and tradition behind each plate. The menu offers a great variety, and everything was served fresh, beautifully presented, and in generous portions.
The service was equally impressive. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel like honoured guests rather than just customers. They were more than happy to explain dishes and offer recommendations, adding a personal touch that made the experience even more memorable.
The ambience of the restaurant is vibrant yet comfortable, striking a beautiful balance between modern design and traditional Lebanese charm. Whether you're coming in for a casual meal or a special occasion, the setting is perfect.
Al Amir isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a celebration of Lebanese culture, flavour, and hospitality. I cannot recommend it highly enough. If you’re in Wollongong and looking for an unforgettable dining experience, Al Amir is an...
