We visited Trader & Co. on Easter Monday. The cafe was exceptionally busy and this review takes this into account. I can see how this place usually scores high, but I can only review based on my personal experience. I love the concept of the place and the ambience. Firstly I don’t believe the cafe were equipped to handle the volume of people and orders coming in. It took us 10-15 minutes to have our order taken. The lady behind the counter was lovely, but speed was an issue. The cafe staff seemed to acknowledge they were busy but they didn’t really do anything to help themselves. The lady at the service counter wandered off into the kitchen for a few minutes while people were waiting at the counter and the barista took it upon themselves to run out coffees to tables despite their being a 1/2 hour wait for coffees coming out. We were advised that there would be a 20 minute wait for our order, which was fine but it ended up being 45 minutes from ordering to collection (not counting the line up time to make the order). One poor lady before us just ordered a gourmet sausage roll with sauce with her coffee and she was left waiting for 40 minutes… When we received our order, my other half’s chai latte was luke warm and my coffee was weak. The bacon and egg roll, the egg was undercooked and hence I had to scrape the undercooked egg from the roll leading to just a bacon roll. I applaud the business for opening, there weren’t many options in Yass of businesses that decided to open. About half of the people who walked in, walked back out without ordering as they could see the really big line. Trader & Co. could have made more money if they were better organised. The problems could have easily been solved by staff picking up the pace and the kitchen batching orders together. If you see coming up there are 5 bacon and egg rolls on order, don’t cook each one individually… cook them all at the same time and get them out in one go. Judging by previous reviews this wouldn’t be an issue in quieter times, but running a business you should be able to cater for the busy and quiet periods.

Driving from Sydney to Melbourne you can run into a lot of mediocre cafes but fortunately Trader and Co is not. With a few outside table they are dog friendly and thumbs up for the accessible bathroom that no one mentioned in any review. Staff were cheerful and helpful and the toastie was perfectly grilled on great sourdough bread. My husband had the caramel milkshake and I had a great latte. Their coffee beans are available there and online too and we left clutching two packets to try at home. Next door to Salvos and Vinnies makes it a great stop for an hour. Lots of whole foods to purchase . Gluten free and vegetarian options.

An absolute gem of a café! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with beautiful aesthetics that make it a perfect spot to relax. The staff are incredibly kind and welcoming, making the experience even more delightful. The food? Absolutely delicious! Every dish was served quickly and with care, and the coffee was simply outstanding. We were a group of 20+, yet the service was seamless—every order arrived promptly and perfectly prepared. I genuinely loved everything about this place. Highly recommended!

A smidge overpriced. The avo and feta smash. 1 avo $3-4 1 block of feta $3, less when bought in bulk 1 loaf of break $3, FAR less when bought in bulk. And only 1 slice is used. 1 entire head of rocket to bulk up the plate $4 A maximum of $14 for the ingredients, I am therefore paying $6 for 2 minutes of labour. Good hussle. And the balance of flavour is out. Why is this a customer favourite? Why does the coffe not have a saucer? Not a huge fan, sorry.

Unfortunately our expericence was not great at all. This place is heavily overpriced considered location and portion sizes. Food was alright but not fantastic and after eating $18 breakfast wrap I was still hungry. We were also very disappointed with the service as we were waiting for a long time for someone to clean the table after previous customers and we end up cleaning it ourselves as no staff was attending cleaning. Also no napkins on the table.

I couldn’t be more impressed with this cute little cafe! The staff is super friendly and accommodating. There’s a lot to choose from on their menu (especially vegetarian options), the prices are affordable and the food is bloody delicious. I almost had too much avocado on my avo smash, which is a weird problem to have but I wasn’t complaining 😁 Will definitely be back to try more items on the menu!
