Knowing that most days in the week would probably be busier, coming on a Sunday provides a notably quieter atmosphere than one might expect. Because of this, my meal was served in 5 minutes flat.

The music isn't intrusive, the number of customers is low, and the staff only enter the dining area to serve and retrieve dishes (no table service). At first i thought the lack of table service was a liability, but in hindsight it's relaxing for those who are on long journeys.

I ordered the Squid dish, and it was certainly not forgettable. The salad had a great dressing on it, making it particularly palatable, and is even enjoyable by itself without the other elements on the dish.

The chips were pleasantly thick, however could only be reached by digging down through the squid. Not a huge deal, and honestly one of the only downsides.

The squid itself was nice and soft, in stark contrast to calamari rings from regular seafood shops, making them easily malleable in the mouth. The batter was lightly peppered, providing a mellow warmth to the lower mouth. The sauce didn't really add anything flavour-wise, however it did add a smooth texture to the squid and masking most of the spice, making it edible for those who can't handle much spice as well. By far, this is the best squid I've had in my limited exposure.

If you ever need to stay the night at Yass, this is definitely the place to eat at. I haven't eaten at the other places in town, but when you're provided with food and service of quality that would give city establishments a run for their money, it's hard to think there could be a better...

This club is FANTASTIC. I am an ex-serviceman and love visiting different RSL wherever my wife and I maybe. We purchased a property approximately 30mins from Yass. A few months ago we decided to go to the Yass Soldiers Club for a meal and the meat raffles. It was the best thing we ever did and haven't stopped going back. The two managers there that I have met more one than the other are great at their job. Anabelle, one of the managers, is as friendly and professional as you could get and is still smiling even when they are run off their feet. The staff behind the bar are all great as well. Service with a smile and a joke around to give you a laugh. Now the Bistro. Anushka and Prageeth run the bistro like a BOSS. They are quick at taking orders down and getting them in. Also service with big smiles and always helpful. Nothing is a problem for them. The chefs out the back are nothing short of amazing. Have a look online at how large and different the menu is. Not once have my wife and I or any family or friends we have taken there had a bad or cold meal served. (Unless it was a salad, lol) The steaks cooked PERFECTLY every time and taste great, even when they are flat out. We have tried NUMEROUS meals there and never been disappointed in taste, size or time it took to get the meal. Even the pizza's are big, filling and tasty. Can't wait to see this clubs reno's finished and them in full swing. DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND GO AND HAVE...

As visitors travelling who attended you Club last night we were at first delighted to have the option of a courtesy bus. But the timetable & service was not professional, or as advertised and certainly spoiled the evening. We were collected over 15 minutes late which meant we were standing in the freezing cold waiting.

Only two guest sign in books were available, so we cued to get inside. Antiquated system at best. Members arrived and waved their membership card somewhere in the ether as they swanned into the club.

Then we arrived at the club to find all tables reserved & no effort made to accomodate or notify us when a table became available or before any of reservation guests arrived. So we ate at a filthy table in the sports bar area.

Then we were informed the first return "courtesy" bus would depart at 8:30 pm. Was this another joke! It was also over 15 minutes late before anyone came near the waiting passengers let alone open the bus for departure. So we were again waiting inside this time. We weren't that stupid to wait outside in the cold.

So spending additional money at your club was not going to happen. You missed out on raffle money, pokies monies & additional beverages.

An early night after a long day & before an equally long day home was sadly coloured by a disappointing night that lacked...

Absolute waste of time. "Mexican burrito bowl" listed as a Special but the fact they feel the need to stipulate that a burrito is Mexican is probably telling. The fact that a burrito bowl has "mini tortillas" in it is just f#$@ing absurd. I was happy to see they had a burrito bowl on the menu as it seemed like a good choice for someone that's gluten intolerant. The fact that it has "mini tortillas" should have been an easy fix but the young boy that served me seemed completely clueless about what a tortilla is and what gluten is. After he came back from asking the chef some very limited questions based on his misunderstandings I just ordered a bowl of chips. I've been driving all afternoon and haven't eaten much. Pretty much nothing else open in Yass to get a feed after 6pm on a Monday so good luck to you if you take your chances here.

Food - Here's the photo of my burnt, dry $22 schnitzel and twice cooked chips. I tried to eat it but just couldn't. At least the veggies were fresh. The waitress was very nice and offered us a free dessert to make up for the terrible cooking. Bar - Bar staff served me a zero alcohol beer when I asked for a Heineken. I realised when I got back to our dinner table what she had done so I went back to the bar to exchange the full beer and was told no refund. A male staff member asked her did she tell me it was non alcoholic and she just shrugged and said "nah, but I still can't refund it because it's open". Pretty poor form when we just spent eighty dollars on dinner. We definitely won't be coming here again.
