Pacific Hotel — Restaurant in Yeppoon

Today’s experience was lacklustre to say the least. Upon entering the venue our party enquired about the table booked earlier which we were told was a bench cubicle. We found our booked table at a tiny 4 seater and asked about the bench cubicle which was unreserved. The team member informed us that the manager didn’t want a small party to take up such a large table. We are regulars who normally book a cubicle every Monday. So not a great start.

The menu was difficult to access and took quite some time to upload. As a discount card holder we have to order at the counter which is a problem in itself without a paper menu. All meals ordered, we were reassured that the changes made to the steak sandwich would be okay. The steak sandwich arrived in the hands of a girls who did not want to be at work today and on the sandwich were things specifically asked not to be put on it. The steak on the first sandwich looked amazing so we had high hopes for the replacement to look as delicious. It wasn’t to be so. Sadly disappointed by the thin dry and tiny piece of meat on this one. The 3 other rump steaks were cooked to perfection however the quality was just okay. I don’t recommend this place if you are looking for a nice pub feed, in my opinion it is the worst pub in town for food and somehow only gets worse

The pacific hotel used to be a great place to take the family every weekend but due to a price increase on every item on the menu and changing the menu for the worst makes the pub the worst pub to eat in town. They used to have the most succulent ribs that was marinated in a delicious bbq marinade until a few months ago when they changed it to a chipotle marinade and now the ribs come out tough as a well done rump. The kids can no longer eat the ribs as they’ve made this chipotle sauce spicy for no reason. The chicken schnitzel has no flavor what so ever tastes worse then the cheap ones from Woolworth's. The steaks have lost a lot of quality as well and the chef apparently doesn’t know how to make a medium rare steak usually overcooking it to a medium well.

Let me break this down for you. It’s a pub/bar/bistro located in central Qld. That’s your starting point, not Sydney, not Melbourne so don’t walk in in with those expectations because they will certainly not be met. The venue itself is nice. Well set out with an abundance of room (even when they’re busy). They have a play ground which my child thoroughly enjoys and that’s the reason we go there. The staff are super friendly, another plus. The meals, well they vary from bad average to ok average but will always be average. Don’t stray from the typical pub mains because this place cooking chips well is astonishing let alone any other flavour of the month dish, they just don’t have that in them. I wonder about the palate of the people who have left favourable reviews. Nonetheless I will continue to go there, just not...
