Criterion Hotel — Restaurant in Young

The staff here are really lovely. Happened to walk past and see the specials board, hubby and I looked and we both liked the meals on offer (ribs and schnitty), so even though we had a meal prepped at home (it can wait) we went in, had a beer, ordered two beautiful meals and also two deserts when we saw their deserts special board too! We bought our toddler and the staff were wonderful with him too. Compliments to chef/s, she was lovely to our boy too. We walked out feeling special, also we had eaten two beautiful meals, hubby was happy as his beer was served really cold and we were all happy sharing a couple of deserts together. A group of us went to the Cri 27th May, one member of our party went to the bar purchased a beer which they were drinking talking and enjoying their night when a member of the staff came up took their beer and told them they couldn't have that and they needed to leave because they were intoxicated which they weren't and gave them a refund. Apparently you can't enjoy yourself with a drink and friends and because you are intoxicated. It depends who you are because there were several groups that went in afterwards who had members of their group clearly intoxicated and weren't asked to leave. Not the first time I have heard this happen and certainly will not go...

The Crit is a typical country pub - not fancy on the outside, not fancy on the inside - but the food is great! I had the chicken schnitty tonight - good size, lovely crumb, perfectly cooked, the pepper sauce was creamy, the chips were crisp, and the salad was better than you get at some city pubs.
