Wilders has always been a family favourite, and even after moving away. It is still a place we mention visiting when passing through town, food is delicious. Always fun to dine upstairs.
But Even places this popular needs maintenance, when we went upstairs for dining, the booths were hideous, terribly stained, seats were not very comfortable to sit on. The toilets are unisex. One upstairs, two downstairs. It was a little unsettling.
And I noticed some very concerning water damage near the ceiling trim beside the AC, seemed like there was some kind of bubble in the ceiling?. So, just be careful around it.

   Read moreA previous visit was exceptional so when passing through Young once again we decided to eat at Wilders. My wife ordered a wedge of lemon meringue & mug of coffee. I went for a wedge of caramel cheese cake. At $6.50 for each wedge it seemed reasonable but then the Sunday surcharge was added (even though most staff were on under 16 wages) & the wedge was more of a whiff. Without a lie my fore finger was longer & it took 3 bites to consume. Further, my wife's mug came in a paper cup because "They had run out of mugs." It was only 10.30am.    Read moreWe stopped for a quick lunch. The pies were delicious so was the vol au vent. Take Away coffee was also very good however on the very pricey side... Chips were a mix of Luke warm and hot ones ... a bit weird. The staff was friendly too. I am leaving the place slightly disappointed though as the place needs a bit of care and maintenance. No soap in any of the toilet/changeroom. Instead I got offered some "soapy water" which was basically water put in a pump bottle... For a coffee shop I think investing in a couple of soap bottles would not kill the bank and offer customers a nicer experience...
