What can I say, the Gecko's Cafe is made popular due to the captive nature of the resort. You'll see a line of people outside for hours but the food is underwhelming, basic and expensive.
We spent four nights on the resort and went here twice. The first we sat in, we had to walk ourselves to the table. It's important to mention that this is a self service place, you choose what you want and wait with a long range buzzer that vibrates when your food is ready for collection. First night, we had the wagu beef burger. Simple and tastes like microwave meat. Second night, we decided to have a takeaway pizza as the atmosphere sitting in was more like a theme park lunch spot. Pizza slightly better but we ordered the ham and pineapple with no pineapple. Collected our pizza after a 25m wait to them having removed the ham so we walked back to the hotel with just a pineapple pizza. Walked back and reordered with another 25m wait. Check your pizzas before you leave!
Summary: basic, basic, basic canteen food. Avoid! Just buy stuff from the amazing supermarket and eat...

Great food, reasonable prices considering they’re in the middle of nowhere. The problem here is their service, it’s absolutely garbage. The servers have sour puss looks on their faces, they DON’T want to be there serving/working while customers are having fun on holiday. Takes them forever to take your order, once order is placed, some random person, not YOUR server, will bring you your food in some order, maybe they’ll bring all the food for the whole table together, maybe there will be 15 minutes before everyone has their food, meanwhile, the person who gets their food first, their food is now cold. After they’ve dropped off your food, they couldn’t care less about you, ESPECIALLY if you didn’t order any alcohol. People who order alcohol DEFINITELY get better service with the servers going back to their tables over and over again. The food is good, but you WILL be treated like cattle being fed in a trough. What a shame, how embarrassing for the owners. Read other reviews, the service is...
Read moreI was excited to visit this cafe, after reading the reviews and seeing the pics.
After spending over 15+ years in hotels and Hospitality myself, working my way from a Kitchen hand to a Hotel Manager, I understand the meaning of, everyone needs to learn and start some where but...
The staff need to learn more about personal hygiene and service....
Paying $26 for the Chicken Pot Pie, with it having three small slices of chicken in a watery yellow sauce, and smaller then the burgers on the menu, I feel this is really under rating it self.
The soup of the day was $10, Chicken & Leek, was tasty but the bread was really burnt and unable to soak the soup even to soften.
I feel the Cafe has a lot of potential, it needs a lot of love, mainly in the kitchen with the food prep and overseeing the staff itself. I feel the rostering could be more balanced with staff that are learning and ones who could handle a shift by themselves.
I look forward to hearing the progress of it...
