d'schupf — Restaurant in Ellmau

We've now been here a few times over the past few years and I am afraid the negatives have now tipped the positives. The food is really very good and fairly priced. It does have a great atmosphere but.... the service... too much effort, too much hassle, can't be bothered and gives really the wrong attitude. We have tried a few times now and been met with the blank no.... Great example - we wanted a quick drink inside away from the smoke this week as we had the kids with us and wanted to stay 20 mins and completely respected that they were reserved for later.... EVERY single table inside was empty.... nobody in there... could we have a table for a quick drink and leave? Absolutely not....! What a shame - we didn't give up on the first few times but this week I am afraid we will now be investing our time and money in more welcoming and 'can do' places in Ellmau as there are plenty. Walked across the road and guess what - of course we can give you a table but please make it vacant in 20 mins... we did and everyone was happy. You have a great place but please, please sort the attitude out! We would love to come again but not again under the same...

D'schupf is the best bar in Ellmau. Joachim, the proprietor, and his staff are very friendly and always pleased to see and greet us. We go in a group of 15 plus every year and it is always a joy to be greeted as we return. The food and service is absolutely to notch, even when catering for many people. Ein Erlebnis der besonderen Art.

Wir kamen mit sieben Personen und einem Kleinkind. Die erste Herausforderung ließ nicht lange auf sich warten: die Platzwahl. Unser zugewiesener Tisch mit zwei Bänken schien zunächst ausreichend – wäre da nicht die Säule mittig an der Stirnseite gewesen, die einen Kinderstuhl völlig unbrauchbar machte. Selbst ein Platz in der Ecke hätte vielleicht noch funktioniert, doch unser Sohn saß derart tief, dass die Tischkante auf Augenhöhe lag. Die Kellnerin sah darin kein Problem – wir hingegen schon.

Nach einigem Nachhaken durften wir schließlich den Tisch wechseln. Die Begeisterung darüber hielt sich beim Servicepersonal allerdings deutlich in Grenzen.

Die Bestellung? Ein Ratespiel: Apfelsaft wurde zu Eistee, ein Burger war ein Überraschungsmodell der unbestellt hinzukam, die Trüffel-Chips ein nachträglicher Bonus – serviert erst, als alle schon fertig waren.

Der krönende Abschluss kam dann beim bezahlen. Wir wollten unsere Rechnung getrennt bezahlen. Wir bestanden nur aus zwei Familien. Das dies eine derartige Herausforderung ist habe ich in einer so gut frequentierten Gegend selten erlebt.

Besonders enttäuschend fanden wir, wie wenig kinderfreundlich das Restaurant ist. Aber die Hundebesitzer unter uns werden sich freuen. Während unser Kind kaum eine passende Sitzmöglichkeit bekam, wurde der Hund am Nachbartisch ganz selbstverständlich ungefragt mit Wasser versorgt.
