Gasthaus Lobewein — Restaurant in Ellmau

I had high hopes for Lobewein in Ellmau, but my experience was a letdown from the start. Upon entering, the place felt chaotic, with a bar overflowing with glasses—an early warning sign I regrettably ignored.

A short, stocky man with a beard kept reassuring us someone would attend to us soon, but it took over 10 minutes to be seated. Once we finally got to our table, we had to fetch our own menus.

We ordered food and drinks simultaneously, yet the food arrived before the drinks. While the portions were generous and the food itself was decent, the service was shockingly poor.

The worst part came at the end: the same bearded man threatened to report me to the police when I refused to let him insert my debit card into the machine. First, I prefer to handle my card myself, and second, by that point, any trust I had in the establishment was gone.

Sadly, the poor service overshadowed the meal. I won't...

Stopped here for some food on a cloudy Friday afternoon. The food was outstanding, and the meat on the grillteller was larger than I've had elsewhere in my 8 years of coming to tirol. Service was prompt and friendly - speaking both english and german when I wanted to practice my deutsch! Outside seating area was lovely, and the inside was very traditional and tidy. Prices were competitive with other restaurants around us in ellmau and st johann in tirol. Will come back again...

Wir hatten am frühen Nachmittag bereits angerufen und wollten eine Tisch reservieren, worauf uns ein netter Herr sagte, dass sie keine Tische reservieren und man nur etwas warten müsse, um einen Tisch zu bekommen. Als wir im Restaurant ankamen, warteten bereits mehrere Gruppen auf einen Tisch. Keiner der Angestellten kontrollierte, wer zuerst da war und wer erst seit kurzem wartete. Ein deutsches Pärchen nutze dies aus und drängelte sich vor. Als ich diese darauf ansprach, meinte die Frau nur: „Wir sind doch nur zu zweit“. Ich konterte dauraufhin, dass wir doch auch nur zu zweit sind und schon länger warteten. Darauf erhielt ich nur einen Gesichtsausdruck, der bedeutete „Tja, Pech gehabt, wir waren schneller“. Zum Glück bot uns der Kellner sofort einen Tisch an, den wir gerne annahmen. Die Kellner und Kellnerinnen waren freundlich und das Essen war gut. Doch wenn man sich erst um einen Tisch streiten muss, weil ein Pärchen meint, sie seien wichtiger, dann ist es das wirklich nicht wert. Da können die Speisen noch so gut und die KellnerInnen noch so freundlich sein. Uns wird das Gasthaus Lobewein nicht mehr sehen. Man hat das Gefühl, wie an einem Schalter abgefertigt zu werden und am Ende fühlt man sich gestresst, weil ja schon die nächsten auf einen Tisch warten. Daher empfehle ich dieses Restaurant...
