Pension Widauer is a typical austrian privat guesthouse in the alps.||Facts:||modern Rooms with breakfast||TV and bathroom||gay friendly||pets welcome||Come by train or by car/ bike/ bicycle||there lives an old cat||||||We spent two nights there with my 12 yrs old dog - (mostly everywhere in austrian courtyside are pets welcome, but please ask directly if they do). If you travel with an older dog, ask for a room on the ground floor, as we did (Room Number 1 and 2).||||Please note: there lives an old cat, he's 16 yrs old. Keep your dog in your room for breakfast, keep them on a leash on the property.||Please keep your dog ALWAYS on a leash, not just because it's the law, in forests official hunter could shoot them. Austrian news papers are full with storys with this. Don't wear your dog warn wests, same reason.||||The Guesthouse is very familiary, well maintained and it seems gayfriendly. No one minded two adult men sleeping together in one dopple bedroom. Nice rooms with bathrooms (small, including toilet, shower, and a small wash mussel). I liked the bed and I'm a little picky... The area around is silence in the night, yes there is traffic but i didn't reconised.||The Widauers are it's 3,9 km from the Railway Station Kufstein away, you can reach it by bus or by Taxi (not expensive). Vorab: Die Qualität des Essens können wir nicht beurteilen. Soweit kam es erst gar nicht.

Wir kennen Ellmau gut und wollten dem Gasthof Widauer eine Chance geben. Leider. Wir haben einen Tisch reserviert und kamen am letzten Donnerstag ins Gasthaus. Gern hätten wir draußen gesessen, wurden jedoch von einer Mitarbeiterin (ohne Begrüßung) äußerst pampig darauf aufmerksam gemacht, dass dies nicht möglich sei, da es bald regne. Nach einer freundlichen Nachfrage patzte sie uns weiter augenrollend an, dass sie uns doch gesagt habe, dass wir reingehen sollen. Ok, also sind wir reingegangen. Dort wurde uns gesagt, dass wir ja nur zu zweit seien und demnach noch andere Gäste an unseren Tisch gesetzt werden sollen. Wir fanden das merkwürdig, haben aber dennoch für etwa 10 Minuten Platz genommen. In dieser Zeit hat uns jedoch kein Mitarbeiter beachtet. Wir haben dann beschlossen, den Gasthof zu verlassen. Eine andere Mitarbeiterin zeigte sich daraufhin wenig einsichtig. Statt sich für das dermaßen unfreundliche Verhalten der Kollegin zu entschuldigen, schob sie es auf die Hektik, die wegen des anstehenden Regens aufkam. Wir können es zwar nicht nachvollziehen, aber hätten einen Platz drin natürlich akzeptiert. Der Ton ist allerdings entscheidend. Die andere Sache ist die Reservierung. Wir haben nichts dagegen, neben anderen Personen zu sitzen. Wenn man aber Tage vorher einen Tisch reserviert, möchte man auch allein am Tisch sitzen (man bedenke auch Corona. Noch ist es nicht vorbei...). Dass aber nur darauf geachtet wird, Tische und somit die Kasse zu füllen, empfinden wir als sehr unfreundlich. Reserviert ist reserviert, im Widauer scheinbar nicht. Als wir dies beim Gehen angemerkt haben, wurde uns gesagt, dass wir, wenn wir dies nicht akzeptieren, falsch im Gasthof seien. Und damit hatte sie vollkommen recht. Wenn man derartig unfreundlich behandelt wird, möchten wir dort nicht sein. Wir sind dann in ein anderes Lokal gegangen und haben dort gegessen (selbstverständlich draußen möglich, selbstverständlich an einem eigenen Tisch).

Eine kleine Randnotiz: Der groß angekündigte Regen, der das Personal augenscheinlich komplett aus dem Konzept brachte, begann gut eine Stunde später. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt waren wir bereits wohlgenährt zurück in der Unterkunft.
