Great Bakery with History and by the time baking pastries which are originally from the region. Some might taste slight different to the usual due to the regional recipes.

While 1836 in Krems the Bakery was founded as part of the bakery guild allowing it to produce the traditional "Wachau" pastries. The confectioner craft is performed ever since preserving old recipes and traditions.

The place is supposedly a must-visit but not that special. Coffee-wise it's average. The service - polite but somewhat confused. I saw one glutenfree option (on top of your regular and foolproof gf classics- macaroons) and perhaps one could find more if one wanted to inquire about cakes. Very much enjoyed the tour and demonstrations on the first floor. The chocolates were superb especially the caramel coated chocolates that we made and ate fresh. The cake was also delicious. Our demonstrator spoke English so we could easily follow. Wonderful shop...
