We've been to Papas Tapas twice in the past days. The first time, we've had two mixed platters (one vegetarian, one with meat) of various tapas to share. Each platter is designed for 2 people - and indeed, the two platters were just perfect for the 4 of us to enjoy. The second time, we've had the third platter (mixed fish and seafood) and some individual items (fried small fish, pulpo gallego).
All tapas were very tasty, served hot and fresh and prepared really well. The seafood was good quality overall.
The service was very kind and friendly. The first evening, we didn't find a free table outside so sat inside and asked if we could switch to a table outside if one got vacant later on. Meanwhile, we ordered our food and had some drinks, and the staff timed it so right that when they seated us outside, the food was delivered directly after, so all in all a perfect experience.
The location is very central in the old town of Krems, in the pedestrian street and really lively and charming. There were umbrellas against light drizzle and too much sun as well. If you want to visit with your car, you better leave that one outside the old own in a parking garage or big parking lot, as there's nothing directly near the restaurant for parking. It's great though for seating down as strolling by through the pedestrian zone - and we had our apartment close-by anyway so could enjoy the drinks without the hassle of having to drive.
Often I write "would come again", in this time we really did the day after, as the drinks were very good and reasonably priced as well. We wish you all the best and thank you...
Read moreGood food but bad service. We have been here twice now. The first time was an overall good experience, but today, a Saturday, we went specifically for their Saturday-only paella, but they were already out by 7pm, despite being open until 11pm. Add to this, our order was incorrect and we were given drinks with alcohol, despite ordering virgin drinks, and since one of us is on pills that you cannot drink alcohol with, this was a pretty big issue, nonetheless, when we realised we had been given the wrong drinks, the staff were unhelpful and we still had to pay for them... The staff were generally also difficult to get the attention of, despite there being 3 of them, and it took a long time of waving at them before we were noticed. We had both really been looking forward to paella, and ultimately we felt...
Read moreWe had the “paella”. The average student can cook a better dish than this. The rice was overcooked, there was not much other food in the dish than rice. Except for some overcooked mussels and green beans from a can. It is a disgrace to call this paella and ask money for it. The portions are really minimal as well and are way overpriced. So probably you will leave hungry and disappointed, as we did. I had a drink served with a fly in it. The atmosphere inside is really bad, nothing to do with Spanish kitchen. Looks amateurish. Really don’t understand the positive reviews. Maybe those guests never tasted real Spanish Kitchen. Never again for us and...
