Hanoi Royal Restaurant — Restaurant in Linz

The soup was quite good, no complaints at all about the food. Late evening and I just passed by, and asked if it still open. The waitress told me they close in 30 minutes. For me it was enough, I sat outside. After half an hour, or even longer, as the waitress (daughter of the owners?) was also outside taking care of the plants, a young couple went by, looking for a place to eat outside, as the weather was very pleasant. They stopped near me wondering if it’s still open. As I speak German and they were speaking English , i told them in a friendly manner that the restaurant is probably closed. As they left the waitress came to me and practically yelled at me: I am there just to eat, not to talk to her customers. First I tried to explain, but she was practically screening at me, very rude, absolutely impolite. Well I never in my life experienced sth like that. We had disappointing experiences at the restaurant. They used stale and rancid chicken meat in the two pho noodles we had. The chicken meat apparently was leftovers for days. The shredded meat had skins and rib bones attached. The egg rolls were also not fresh and must have been stored in a refrigerator for sometime. We spent almost sixty euros and left disappointed. We had a wonderful experience at Hanoi Royal in Linz! We ordered the Fish Curry and the Bún Nem Gà (with chicken and crispy spring rolls), and everything was absolutely delicious and authentic.

The staff were also incredibly friendly; we even had a great conversation with one of them, which made the visit even more special. Before we went in, while we were checking out the menu outside, another customer passing by smiled and said “sehr gut” — clearly, this place has a lot of loyal fans!
