If you're planning a trip to Linz, Austria, the Linz Main Square is an absolute must-visit destination! I recently had the pleasure of spending time in this charming and historic square, and I couldn't have been more delighted with the experience. Linz Main Square, also known as "Hauptplatz," is a vibrant hub of culture, history, and local life. The architecture is simply breathtaking, with stunning medieval buildings that take you back in time and create a unique atmosphere. The colorful facades and ornate details provide the perfect backdrop for memorable photos. One of the highlights of the square is the impressive Holy Trinity Column, which stands tall and proud in the center. Its intricate design and historical significance add to the overall allure of the place. As you stroll through the square, you'll find an array of charming cafes, restaurants, and shops. It's the perfect spot to indulge in a cup of coffee and some delicious Austrian pastries while soaking in the lively ambiance. Don't miss the chance to savor local delicacies and immerse yourself in Linz's culinary delights. The square is also an excellent starting point for exploring other attractions nearby, such as the Linz Castle and the Lentos Art Museum. You can easily spend a full day in the area, making wonderful memories and experiencing the best that Linz has to offer. What truly impressed me was the friendliness of the locals. They are welcoming and proud of their city, always ready to offer recommendations and share stories about Linz's rich history. Whether you're a history buff, a culture enthusiast, or simply looking for a charming place to relax and enjoy the local vibes, Linz Main Square should be at the top of your itinerary. I highly recommend adding this gem to your travel plans. Trust me; you won't be disappointed!

We reached Linz in the evening during our Danube river cruise. We had a night halt. It was just 3/4 minute walk from our docking station. Main Square (Haptplatz) is heart of Linz. It is one of the largest square in Austria with an area of 13200 sq mt. In the center of the square there is a 70 ft column built in 1723 as a mark of gratitude for surviving plague. There are many historical buildings around square. All the trams start and finish here. There are a lot of shops and restaurants around which one can enjoy. Not to be missed !!

The Hauptplatz (main square) is an attractive and historic part of Linz dating from the 1200s. The monument was built in the 1700s to mark various significant events in the city's history. The Hauptplatz has many cafés and restaurants, with the main shopping area close by. The Danube is situated at the north end, where a bridge can be used to access the other side of the river.

Only 1 hour and 15 minutes train ride from Vienna; it was worth the trip. From the train station, we took a bus ride to Linz's main sqaure or old town. A weekend event was taking place there. Very festive and nice attraction. We sat at a cafe at the square watching the events and activities. A nice day spent at Linz's old town
