I like their Schnitzel, their Tafelspitz, their food generally, but I cannot get proper service at this place. Last time I ordered some red meat and asked for a glass of red wine to come with it. When the food was delivered the wine did not come. I asked whether my wine was coming and was met with a shrug. When I had eaten two thirds of my meal I asked again and the waiter then said that they were out of that wine. No "I am sorry or what else can I get you." Today I ordered some tap water with my beer - I know a tricky thing to do in Austria - but everyone at the table had ordered a drink and I wanted it for not having to drink my beer for thirst. The water did not come. I asked for it again and was met with a shrug, no apology. When I had almost finished my beer I got up to get the water myself. Just then the waiter was about to bring it. His comment was: "You are an impatient person." I should have said: and you are in the wrong...

We’ve found this place online and had one night in Linz. I would NOT recommend this place. We did not have a reservation, they made us sit at the bar and eat there, while the restaurant was at most 30% full (which is not surprising).

Atmosphere is nothing special or noteworthy. Service is below average even with low standards for service in Austria in general. The worst was food, I got the pork schnitzel and it was uneatable in terms of all metrics; taste, texture and smell. Overall...

Ich war gestern in Begleitung im Promenadenhof, da es für mich einen angenehmen Rahmen für den Abend darstellte. Wir hatten Spargel von der Tageskarte und Pago gespritzt mit Soda. Ich konnte ja nicht ahnen was mich hier erwarten würde. Zunächst wurden wir gemustert, ob wir überhaupt im richtigen Etablissement sind.

Dann erfuhren wir, dass unser Kellner seine Brille als billige Lesebrille in einer Trafik (Marke Zippo) gekauft hat, da er nicht soviel Geld hätte. Ich weiß nicht was sowas als Smalltalk in so ein Restaurant gehört. Das Besteck machte einen völlig überalterten Eindruck und die Gläser waren völlig mit Kalk vom Geschirrspüler bedeckt. Sowas hatte ich in so einem Restaurant nicht erwartet.

Das Essen meiner Begleitung war sehr gut. Meines weniger. Der Spargel war schlecht geschält hatte daher vom Kochen braune Stellen und am Ende holzig. Das Besteck war unter solchen Bedingungen auch keine Hilfe. Die Kartoffeln - naja ich denke das sollte jeder selbst beurteilen - für mich waren Sie aufgewärmt und mit Butter aufmontiert.

Die Krönung kam beim Bezahlen - Kartenzahlung nur im Küchenbereich - ehrlich?

Wenn das in Österreich gute Sterne/Hauben-Gastronomie ist - was sagt das über diese Auszeichnung aus.

Ich habe den Kellner alles gezeigt - aber außer ein Entschuldigung kam nichts von ihm - nicht mal frische Gläser.
