If there’s one place in Hinterglemm that feels like home, it’s Pfefferalm. For 14 days straight, my brother-in-law and I made our daily pilgrimage here—it became more than just a stop on the slopes; it was our ritual, our religion. And honestly, we wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Luis and Susie, the heart and soul of Pfefferalm, are the best hosts you could ever ask for. Their warmth, hospitality, and genuine love for what they do shine through in every interaction. They’ve created a place where guests don’t just eat—they settle in, they connect, and they become part of the Pfefferalm family.

And the food? Absolutely unbeatable. We’ve eaten our way through Hinterglemm, and nothing comes close to their Kaiserschmarrn. It’s simply the best—light, caramelized perfection that somehow tastes even better when enjoyed with the mountain views. Every meal here is incredible, with generous portions, authentic flavors, and dishes that keep you fueled for the slopes.

The setting is just as special. Whether you’re basking in the sunshine on the terrace or escaping a stormy day by the fire, Pfefferalm is the kind of place where time slows down. We found ourselves lingering longer each day, soaking up the cozy atmosphere, sharing stories from the slopes, and enjoying the kind of comfort that only a true Alpine retreat can provide.

Epic mountain hut, classic dark interior with huge fireplace. Decking and outdoor seating has great view until the sun sets behind the mountain. Then it’s time to migrate indoors. Wholesome food on offer and some local shots. A safe....ish place to ski home from if you get caught up in the Apres atmosphere as the night skiing across The Valley...

Wir sind dort heute beim Wandern eingekehrt, um eine Mittagspause einzulegen. Wir setzten uns in die urige Hütte und blätterten bereits in den Speisekarten, als die Bedienung kam, um schon einmal die Getränke aufzunehmen. Als unsere Getränke kurze Zeit später kamen und wir die Essensbestellung aufgeben wollten, sagte man uns, dass es heute keine Küche gäbe, auch nichts kaltes. Toll, hätten wir das gewusst, wären wir direkt wieder gegangen. Aber da in der Hütte an mehreren Tischen gegessen wurde, kam das auch sehr unerwartet. Die Höhe war dann allerdings, dass 5 Minuten später an zwei benachbarten Tischen Essen bestellt wurde und dies auch kurze Zeit später serviert wurde. Auf Nachfrage kam nur, dass es heute keine Küche gäbe. Also so etwas habe ich in ganz Österreich noch nicht erlebt und wir waren wirklich mehr als enttäuscht und vor allem hungrig. So ein Verhalten finde ich wirklich sehr unverschämt und diskriminierend. Schade, aber wir können leider nichts positives zu dieser Hütte sagen - außer dass das Essen der benachbarten Tische...
