Chilipepper Hotpot醉川老火锅 — Restaurant in Vienna

Really good restaurant for a hot pot in Vienna. The soups: tasty, enough variation The ingredients: a lot of ingredients available, including some inspired by Austria / Vienna. The sauces: all ingredients were available for people to build their dipping sauces, including a recipe written at the bar for those not familiar with the idea. Portion size: the portions were a bit larger than at most hot pot restaurants. Although we ordered the usual amount, we ended up with food not eaten on most plates, something that does not happen very often to us. Drinks - the plum drink was really good, almost like a homemade compote, with pureed plums. Chilled it was perfect. Dessert was lacking in comparison to other hot pot restaurants. It would be nice to have some melon or watermelon available for those who want a refreshing taste at the end. For us, it was not needed.

Overall, great place for hot pot, will visit again next time...

Great New hotpot place in Vienna. Comes pretty close to my experience at HaiDiLao Hotpot.

Great selection of Hotpot flavours and a great variety of meats, vegetables, seafood, sides and snacks like crispy pork belly and what not. We opted for the combo of hot and muahroom pot. The spicy one was amazing 🔥

The sauce buffet is also nice and the waiters are happy to help you with picking out a great combination. They also are happy to help with the ideal cooking time for your chosen dishes.

Definitely worth a visit and quite the experience. Your cloths and hair will smell of Hotpot but that is part of the experience and shouldn't count against them.

Also, das Service ist super, die Herrschaften alle sehr nett und bemüht. Das ändert leider nichts daran, dass sie die Hälfte der Bestellungen vergessen und man ständig nachfragen muss, wo dies oder jenes bleibt.

Generell ist diese Art von Essen für größere Gruppen (wir waren zu neunt) wirklich nicht geeignet. Stress pur von Anfang bis zum Ende. Man ist einfach überfordert von allem, das beginnt bei den Dingen, die man in die Brühe gibt bis hin zu den Saucen, die man sich selber holen und zusammenstellen muss.

Eine bestellte Flasche Rotwein entpuppte sich als schlecht (hat gekorkt) und der Kellner hat irgendwie überhaupt nicht verstanden, was damit gemeint ist und warum die Flasche zurückgeschickt wird. Ich finde in der Gastronomie sollte man schon wissen, was zu tun ist, wenn sich eine Flasche Wein als kaputt entpuppt. Immerhin wurde die Flasche dann auf eine neue ausgetauscht und die war dann in Ordnung.

Das Essen selber ist ganz okay. Ich kann die euphorisch-positiven Rezensionen hier nicht ganz nachvollziehen. Es schmeckt gut, aber da ist noch sehr viel Platz nach oben. Die Schärfe ist mitunter brutal scharf, alles Weitere schmeckt dann kaum noch nach irgendwas. Die Brühen, für mich das Wichtigste, sind leider ziemlich herz- und seelenlos. Hier hätte ich mir schon mehr erwartet, immerhin landet alles Essbare darin.

Alles in allem bin ich leider etwas enttäuscht von dem Besuch. Immerhin hatte ich den ganzen restlichen Abend was davon, weil die Kleidung (die Jacken stecken ja sicherheitshalber in geruchsdichten Sackerln) transportiert die Gerüche der Speisen...
