Gasthaus Schmitzberger — Restaurant in Vienna

The portions are huge and the menu very traditional. You get served promptly and the food is of good value for the Money. That's it from the positive side. The interior is almost too traditional and it smells a bit funny and this also applies to the staff. The waitress was highly annoyed by our presence and gave us the impression that she wants to get rid of guests as fast as possible. They are not interested in hospitality but in getting your money quickly and this you can leave cash only. So there is no possiblity to pay with bank or credit card. So one had to go to an ATM while others had to wait and were treated in the unfriendliest way possible. So this Restaurant survives by serving a lot and cheap. Only cash no card is not so modern. The young waiter was somewhat rude and totally inpatient with us when ordering.

As she stressed we didn't manage to order all drinks in one go, so then the older man working there came out and was even more rude to us and told us of whilest the younger waiter supported him doing so.

I tried to get them more humble without success...

Anyhow it destroyed the atmosphere and the mode. My partner and her friend actually was totally offended.

Ich war mit dem Gasthaus früher mehr zufrieden, aber die zuletzt extrem unfreundliche Bedienung hat mich nun veranlasst Abschied zu nehmen.

Ein Freund, der mit mir gemeinsam dort war, meinte, man soll das nicht so eng sehen, es sei nur ein schlichtes Gasthaus. Er hat Recht, mir ist das Niveau bloß zu niedrig.

Sich anschnauzen zu lassen, wenn man etwas urigert, das ist ein NoGo. Ob schlicht oder nicht sollte dabei keine Rolle spielen. Ich war mit Sicherheit nicht unfreundlich.

Das Essen ist bodenständig aber nicht mehr. Meine letzte Speise waren Augsburger, die aber normale Knacker sind. Es war früher eindeutig besser. Der servierte Wein war leider recht grausig, was der Grund für die Beanstandung war.

Das hat man m.E. korrekt entgegenzunehmen und nicht frech zu kommentieren, so als wäre ich noch daran Schuld und nicht das Gasthaus.

Es gibt auf dem Level schlichte, bodenständige aber auch anständigere Gasthäuser in Wien. Ich muss als Gast kein König sein, das sagt man zwar, verlange ich aber gar nicht. Ich bin einfach nur ein Gast, der das Recht hat gut bedient zu werden. Not more!

Fehler können immer passieren, aber wie man damit umgeht, das macht den Ton in der Musik. Ich bin kein Mimoserl, bei Gott nicht, aber da mich auch das Essen nicht mehr überzeugt, so verabschiede ich mich mit einem...
