Update summer 2025: I am dropping my rating to two stars…. I was recently eating in the garden and I saw rats and mice going in and out of Gleis Garten like honored guests… The hygiene of the place is questionable. Eating while watching the whole Ratatouille family is quite bad if it’s not on screen.
First of all, DROP YOUR PRICES. They are inexplicably high. I’ve been there many times and I’ve had bad and good experiences. It is indeed very beautiful and a great idea in general. However I feel like more thought was put into design than the actual functionality and customer friendliness of the place. Very expensive for a food hall. The high prices are also not logical since you pick up the food yourself so there’s no continuous active service. The toilets are very often horribly disgusting. Places advertised as Greek for example are definitely not original. The ventilation is horrible so that my hair and my clothes smell every time I leave Gleisgarten. And I feel like the working conditions for the people that actually work there are really bad. Employees change all the time so they either quit or get fired for a reason. I like going there and I’d love to keep going but many things need to change in order for Gleisgarten to actually keep working for years and not remain in the...
Read moreExtremely disappointing for a place that officially opened only 3 days ago. (BTW all reviews here older than three days are obviously fake or made by influencers / friends invited to the soft opening) The waiting time for foods/drinks is extremely long everywhere. It seems as if they didn't expect that this place would be visited by anyone. Also all the plants inside are already dead even though the olives and palmtrees of such size cost thousands of euros, so the place already looks run down and like it already needs a renovation. The hall also has a very bad acoustics, so the nois from all people makes talking inside almost impossible. We ordered some cakes, waffles and milkshakes at the cafe near the entrance and waited more than half an hour (self-service pick-up) because they for some reason have only one person in the kitchen preparing food. Also by 14.30 they were already out of most cakes. Since lots of people were waiting on their food and drinks to be prepared, the bartender completely lost track of who ordered what, which was even more frustrating. And the number of people at the bar waiting to pick up their orders only grew by the minute. All in all a very vary...
Read moreI’ve been coming here almost religiously for months—my favorite hangout spot, and clearly, I’m not the only one. The ambiance is warm, relaxing, and welcoming. It’s a great place to work (in a laid-back mindset). Of course, as night falls, the volume rises, as you’d expect. This place leans pricey, both for drinks and food, but I can guide you through it. For a solid price-to-quality ratio, I recommend the new hippie spot, Local Hero - innovative, flavorful dishes that stand out. I particularly love their hummus, their black pudding with kimchi, and their beef cheek dishes (though the staff can be a bit grumpy). While I do enjoy the two Asian spots, I find their pricing steep. Nam tok noodles aren’t expensive back home, so why the markup here? And as a lover of Latin food, I appreciate their lone Latin offering, but the portions leave something to be desired. For the best value, though, the Italian spot wins hands down. Their focaccias are fresh and delicious, and even their antipasto plate is generous. Beyond food, this place fosters a real sense of community with its events. Some haven’t hit the mark, but their movie nights are an...
