Grelle Forelle — Restaurant in Vienna

It’s not a good underground club. Bouncer is not filtering people at all. You can see a crazy mix of kids who are trying to keep up with techno culture and then some luxury style dressed fake people, and also some people who came just to drink a lot of alcohol and behave like pigs not caring about outfits and what is more important about the music. In general it feels like only 10% of people care about music here. By the way there is time schedule anywhere even on a day of a event inside. Definitely need better strict policy at the door. Not to mention that it’s too much light inside both on the dance floor and in chill zones. Sunglasses is a must here unfortunately. Music is good thought when there are famous techno artists playing. Entrance is 25€ which is the same in Berghain!!! I even don’t want to comment this fact. Toilets were super strange. In each toilet (men and women) there was a woman sitting and keeping an eye on people and giving one piece of paper towel to the each person after washing hands. She was not very friendly so each time going to that toilet was a real unpleasant challenge…. Outside of the club there is a huge problem with immigrants who trying to sell drug. On our way to the club one guy wanted to start a fight with my boyfriend and that was at midnight. He seemed drunk or high and at first he was just bothering us with questions and then followed and hit my boyfriend. Anyway I think this could be a really cool place with good music if people were care more about proving a good experience. But for now it feels like completely commercial club which is trying to make as much money as possible not thinking about others. Giving 1 star for the very good sound system and 1 star for the good DJs...

An honest review as I was expecting to read before going: The music was amazing, however the atmosphere is not what you expect if you are used to the techno scene in Berlin. You will find people in jeans and shirts like if you were walking on a regular street, later in the night some will lose those shirts in the best of the cases. Very few will make the effort to make the techno scene interesting (with makeup, dress, kinky costumes, etc.) but I guess this is how Berlin started decades ago. And I strongly advise that if you are planning to go please do the effort. The ambient will not build by itself, we as the people going to party are the ones responsible to build it up.

I wish the place would have dark light (UV light), so all my effort in fluorescent UV-reactive clothes and makeup was useless in the regular lights of the place. This was a total disappointment that I hope the owners will fix and live up to the name of "Grelle" Forelle, it was more like "Dunkel" Forelle.

Good sound system, non existing bouncers (so literally everyone will enter no matter how boring you will look) I guess they need to fill the room over the quality of the party ambiance, but in my opinion the place has huge potential, is a matter of time to educate people in the techno culture, to understand that you dress up to contribute with the collective, you can ask to receive back only if you give....

Was there last Saturday to see what the fuss is about. The music was not my taste (boring), and I am usually pretty tolerant. It was almost completely dark, small and overpriced at 20 Euro entry. The only positive was that we did not have to queue too long at the entrance, despite for whatever reason it being well attended. To top things off they misplaced my jacket at the wardrobe and told me they can't be bothered to look for it, the employee there gave me a random jacket from some other guy (!) and told me to come back in a few hours to get my own or come back on Monday. Seriously you can't make that stuff up! If you are looking for electronic music or a decent dance club there are much better options in Vienna. Avoid this, 1 star is pretty much too much. Edit 2 weeks later: I still haven't gotten my jacket back from the wardrobe and I have given up hope. But the lost&found staff and security was actually nice. And a friend suggested that this club was better if you are very careful about which DJ plays that night and arrive after 2AM. So I am upgrading this to two stars. Still wouldn't recommend it because of the inexcusable stuff...
