We went there for lunch yesterday as my Austrian host recommended. Told me he used to come here all the time when he was a student in Vienna many years ago. The photo of the döner sandwich I had doesn't do justice to the actual taste and quality it had! The döner meat was excellent - non of that bull* processed meat lump you sea everywhere. It is properly stacked thin layers of meet on a döner pole. The bread, what is often called "gobit" in Türkiye, was superb!! It was also massive! I also had ayran to drink which seemed/tasted like it was home made! Great lunch for less than €10!! I'd definitely go back and try their stews which also liked pretty good and authentic!

Since I heard from a number of people this Turkish restaurant was amazing and considering many Turkish people live in Vienna, I was expecting a lot more.....and so even though the food and service were passable, I was a little disappointed 😔 none of the abundance of delicious Turkish bread and salad that come in good Turkish restaurants, rack of lamb was over cooked and oily and vegetable stew was tasteless......maybe it wasn’t a good day and might come back to try other dishes....🤔

A true oasis, or rather a real institution, in the middle of the now far too hip Brunnenmarkt district. No pallet furniture, no 3rd Wave coffee - simply good, also vegetarian food and non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks (try the Turkish red wine!) until late at night in a pleasant atmosphere with great, attentive service, in the large inner courtyard in summer, in the winter garden or brick vault. Alone or with friends, an absolute recommendation!

Positive:

they have a very nice outdoor space at the back, so if the day is nice, its a nice place to enjoy it is quite big outdoors, so if you are in a group (even if big) it would accommodate it

To improve:

staff was extremely rude on various situations and not just one of them but 3 of them, so it must be a thing there

  1. we arrived and went to the outdoor area. The first line of tables were taken with people enjoying their meals. We wanted to be in a not so loud area and when we were on the way to the further back zone, the waiter told us to come back and to sit in the crowded zone, as he did not want to go all the way there to take our order.

  2. at the time of paying, after already waiting for quite some time to get their attention, my gf raises her hand to get the attention of a waiter. He saw her, and we understood he was busy as he had a tray full of drinks and on his way to deliver them, but the reaction he had was to look at her, and offered her the tray in disgust as if we would not have seen he was busy. Extremely rude and even the table next to us noticed that.

  3. even after getting upset with us for raising the hand to catch his attention, one would say that the waiter would come to check on what we wanted or tell a colleague. That did not happen and it took another 10 minutes (and another hand up) to catch their attention. When we mentioned we wanted to pay with card, we got an eye roll from the waiter. Also rude.

i ordered a kebap and the meat was very greasy. Do you know when you can feel the grease of the foos sticking inside your mouth, well, that.

Overall, not sure if it just was an isolated bad experience we had or this is the service/quality they offer.

I know for sure I wont be back neither would I recommend it.

If you visit this place, I wish you a better experience. If you have a bit more time, keep searching as there are other nicer...

Located outside the usual tourist areas in the Turkish district. Seems to be very popular among local Turks. I was there on a Sunday afternoon and I was surrendered by people enjoying a good diner or watching Turkish football league on TV or both. Felt like being in Istanbul. Seems quite small from outside but don't hesitate to enter in the restaurant and walk your way to the back rooms. You'll see that the place is rather big actually. You'll find there 2 larger rooms. One for smokers and a non smoker one. Great choise of Turkish food. I found it difficult to make up my mind but I was not disappointed. The guys serving were also quite friendly. The price was also reasonable for the amount and...
