We held a suprise baby party there (mostly for practical reasons, as we took baby bump photos in the park). Food was ok, though immensely pricey (€5.20 for a piece of cake). They have absolutely no offers for vegans, not even soy milk or oat milk. When we asked, they told us, there is not enough demand for it (if you provide, demand will follow, but nevermind), nor do they have options for other dietary requirements (like lactose intolerance). But what really was a no go for me, was the unbelieveably rude staff. Our waiter (Beki) was helpful and nice, so my thanks to this nice man and the only reason for the second star in my review, otherwise it would have been a 1 star review. But others waiters were rude and not helpful. One in particular (will not provide name for privacy reasons) was extremely rude to me and another mother. My baby, who is mostly crawling, wanted to explore a little and I walked him BY HAND around the place. Of course I paid attention to my surrounding and was standing on the side of the door with another mother, whose 1,5 year old was exploring as well and he snapped at us, that he is working here and he would not tolerate kids that are running around. I did see him and therefore stopped by the side of the door. I was beyond shocked to be honest, as I used to work in hotels for years as well and this level of rudeness is just incomprehensible (especially for a "non-reason" - believe me I have experienced different situations with kids, who were not well behaved at all). Another waiter heard and tried to apologise for his colleague, but was cut short by ANOTHER waiter who told him to stop talking to us. That was the moment I grabbed my baby and told my friends that we were leaving. I have to add, that all of our party's children (5 in total) were extremely well behaved, weren't loud or wreaked havoc, they merely wanted to move around (which is totally understandable) and weren't bothering other guests. In short: the place is neither child friendly (even though it is in a big park, which many families go to), nor is the staff friendly. I do want to mention, that I was pleasently surprised by a changing station for babies in both, the women's and the men's restroom.
So suffice to say, I will neither go there again myself, nor will I recommend it to any of my friends/family.
Food is a 3 out of 5 (very expensive for average products - we had cakes mostly, they were nice, but nothing special) Service 2 out of 5 (2nd star only because of our waiter Beki who was friendly and helpful) Atmosphere 4 out of 5 (nice enough with the location in the park, but I have to say the rudeness of the staff did kind of filter through. Can't exactly put my finger on it, but I didn't completely feel cosy there, despite the...
Read moreMan, do I hate complaining, but here we go:
The location and the atmosphere of the restaurant were quite nice. Some piano covers in the background kept my friends and myself in tune with each other. Nothing bad yet, all quite pleasant.
But then, then waiter came. He was constantly looking away, pretending to be very busy. This led of course to the first round of beers being not what we ordered... just for 4 people. Trying to clear it up was more difficult than you might think.
The second round of beers was a success but then the food came. When I picked the restaurant, i checked their food and the prices. It seemed a bit more special, a little pretentious but with good food combinations. The reality was disappointing. I ordered something similar to a burger but with boiled beef and coleslaw. That was pretty much to it...the beef wasn't seasoned and the burger just tasted bland. I know that salt is usually a matter of taste but my friends confirmed the basic taste and even complained about their dishes not being seasoned properly. We combined our foods to make up for a disappointing dinner and asked for some salt (which came in small single paper doses (like McDonalds salt :) ) unlike the pepper which was brought in a regular grinder/dispenser....i know, details, but it just felt cheap...
Then another couple of beers and it was time to leave. The apogee of the evening: payment. The distracted waiter somehow booked some of our drinks to another table and couldn't retrace out order. He then asked us to recap what we had ordered. When I mentioned that this is unprofessional he asked me to "pay attention to him" ...(what he hasn't done with us for the whole evening). In the end, he did somehow put together our bill but it was split between what he booked for our table and a part of our neighboring table. I couldn't see a complete bill with a final price.
Conclusion: Good location with nice ambiance. Less than average food with very...
Read moreThe food selection is not very large, the portions are normal size, but they were not really tasty, I mean it is average. The 1 star rating is not about this, but about the reaction of the restaurant and the waiter to an unpleasant incident. When the food was brought out, I was sitting alone and just turned around for a moment when I heard the people sitting around me exclaim in surprise. A whole large slice of wiener schnitzel was stolen from the plate opposite me by a crow that was prowling nearby. The waiter just spread his arms and said that if I wanted another slice of meat, it would be an extra 5 euros. I can't get over this, what kind of hospitality is this, where they don't even apologize, they just automatically announce this?! That's just an addition to the fact that the large slice of meat was torn in two by two birds and it wasn't the waiters who picked up the leftovers between the tables, but the guests who were sitting there. Half an hour later, this scene was repeated with another slice of schnitzel from another guest… I ask, shouldn't the restaurant put up an additional information board warning about this "situation"?!? We moved nearby not long ago, we couldn't wait to have a free weekend to try the restaurant, but this was the first and last time...
