We live nearby Eckel, so picked the restaurant for a quieter anniversary dinner.
Great ambience at the garden tables, the place is will prepared for weather and conveniently spaced.
Service has been very attentive from the beginning, both from timing perspective as well as attitude and politeness. Very far from the infamous "grumpy waiters" prejudice of Viennese hospitality in general :)
We went for mostly non-traditional food, enjoyed the little twists of preparation (for example, you would not think that duck breast works with peppersauce and strawberry, but it does :)). Great food quality from a wide selection.
In Austria, I usually choose Grüner Veltliner as a wine, without actually knowing too much about the producers, well, the glass of Weingut Ernst Classic is probably the best I have tried until now, can only...
Read moreWe arrived with lots of expectations. Unfortunately we were terribly disappointed. The wine arrived after the food... The food was heavily salted. We ordered a Syrah wine which was terrible and sour. We returned it back and ordered another wine which was more expensive but much better. We were so surprised when the bill we got included both bottles of wines and asked to talk to the manager. The restaurant owner arrived and started to argue with us and insisted not to deduct the wine from the final bill... "It's a good wine...and you have to pay for it...". His behavior was unacceptable...the first time I face such an answer... SHAME ON YOU... I would recommend Michlen to double check their recommendations... Maybe it was a good restaurant in the past BUT definitely it is NOT today. Stay away...
Read moreI picked Eckel for a birthday dinner. From the very beginning, they assisted me with everything: Table decoration, birthday cake, and so on.
Staff is highly competent and very attentive. Atmosphere is rather tasteful and elegant. Meals are prepped with high quality ingredients, therefore flavourful.
As a starter, we ordered steak carpaccio. Everything on it was exceptionally delicious, unfortunately meat was not just as flavourful. That’s the only minus. We ordered salvelinus fish and deer medallions as main course. Both of them were great. If wine arrived with on time with main course it would have been perfect.
