Schutzhaus Waidäcker — Restaurant in Vienna

This is another secret gem in my home district of Vienna. The Schutzhaus (historically this was a shelter in the wild) offers EVERYTHING you will like: a cosy beer garden, amazing local food (ingedients come from local organic farmers) and excellent staff, fluent in English even if custumers are definitively mostly from the neighborhood. If you have more than a couple of days in my city, this is a must to explore the 'old fashioned' Vienna, how it really was and still is. If you're lucky, you can also listen to the Wienerlied-singers as they practice (mostly on Wednesdays) for free. If you wanna get the (in my opinion) best Gulasch in town: don't forget to reserve! Bei einem erstmaligen Besuch letzte Woche wurde mir ein Schnitzel serviert, welches ich kaum als solches erkannt habe, da ich es für eine versehentlich auf den Teller gerutschte Krokette gehalten habe!Hätte ich es in meine Hand genommen, so konnte dieses ungehindert darin Platz finden, da es kleiner als mein Handteller war! Einzig die gebackenen Steinpilze wurden von meiner Freundin als normale Portion und somit als annähernd ausreichend empfungen, der Preis dafür mit über 14,-- Euro aber etwas hoch angesetzt!Zusätzlich bestellt wurde ein Eierschwammerlteller, welcher ebenfalls zu klein geraten war und eher als Kinderportion durchgehen würde!Vermisst haben wir auch eine grössere Auswahl an vegetarischen Gerichten! Für uns wurde hier eindeutig zu viel an der Portionsgrösse gespart und das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis als nicht stimmig empfunden!Wir werden hier deshalb nicht mehr zum Essen...
