TAPAS MAYAS - mexikanisches Restaurant und Cocktail-Bar — Restaurant in Vienna

How is this place not more popular?! Probably the best Mexican food I've ever had (and I've traveled quite a bit). Walked in here and felt like I was back in Guatemala.

All ingredients are really fresh and cooked by the owner's wife. We came here on a friday night and ordered 3 cocktails, 1 appetizer, 2 main courses and 1 dessert.

Cocktails: Mango Nr. 5: Delicious mix of Vodka and fresh (!) Mango juice and purree, garnished with a big piece of fresh Mango! Absolutely delicious.

Margarita: Perfect mix of sweet and tart, very fresh!

Tropical Banana: Garnished with a real banana, super tasty!!

Appetizer - Homemade Tortilla Chips with Black beans, smothered in cheese. With fresh homemade Guacamole, Spicy Salsa, and sour cream.

Main - Fajitas con Carne served in a sizzling cast iron pan, fresh vegetables and delicious beef! served with fried rice, guacamole, sour cream, spicy salsa, and flour tortillas (extra tortillas are free of charge!!!)

Burrito con Carne HUGE burrito filled with black beans, beef, fresh vegetables (peppers, onions,...). Served with fresh lettuce, guacamole, sour cream, ans spicy salsa.

Dessert - Homemade Churros Holy heaven. Warm churros, fried to perfection, rolled in cinnamon and sugar. Served with melted chunks of milk chocolate and melted chunks of white chocolate. Definitely enough for two!

Sad we were too full to try the Bananas Foster - they looked amazing.

A true Gem and a must must visit in Vienna . Their hospitality and service is incredible and the food is top notch. This is our favourite discovery in Vienna so far . Nachos baked with Jalapeños are a must try . It was perfect . Vegetarian burrito was delicious. Chili sin carne which is a vegetarian chilli was so so good. We ended our meal with Churros and they were yum . The dulce de leche dip that came with it was unbelievable .

Patrick and Lucar were the best hosts and the sweetest. The Pinacolada are the best in Vienna and one of the best we have ever had. YOU GOT TO TRY THEIR COCKTAILS , ITS WORLD CLASS ! Unfortunately really good food. That would have gotten 5 stars but the service at most 2. The poor waiter was left completely alone with everything. We had to wait half an hour until we could order, another half for our drinks (which we had to repeat cause he forgot) and one and a half hours in total for our food. Unfortunately, the appetizers were also forgotten and then promised to be added immediately which took another half hour. We wanted to take our leftovers home as well as the -after two hours- arrived appetizer (which we then got on the house to be fair), but the leftovers were forgotten to put in the greasy trash bag in which we got the packaged food. It's really a pity: the food is amazing but the owners clearly don't invest enough in first training and second sufficient staffing. However, the waiter stayed completely friendly...
