The BirdYard — Restaurant in Vienna

You enter through the Eatery, their restaurant, and once you walk downstairs you get into the actual bird yard. You’ll notice, because of the giant bird paintings covering all the walls.

It’s getting crowded quickly, and weirdly enough, emptying out quickly again. Just wait a bit and you’ll get a seat. The staff is very helpful, sometimes you get a free delicious shot to start you off, and the cocktails are anything but your standard fare.

Overall it’s a nice idea, and the drink concoctions are tasty most of the time, unfortunately nothing really stands out. No crazy creative mixtures, not relaxed neither exciting atmosphere... it’s missing that special something, despite doing...

Great service (honestly we had the best barman ever, always checking up and offering suggestions and quick response when called), great music (classic hip hop), great design (beautifully decorated walls), great cocktails, only negative - the available space (may end up standing if you don't reserve up front) and maybe the available drinks advertised in their menu, although they can pretty much make any drink you'd like/ can think of. Definitely going again to try the food next time (dining by day, bar by night). Great place for a date if you...

Da wir den ganzen Tag niemanden für eine Reservierung erreichen konnten, waren wir bereits um kurz vor 18:00 Uhr im Lokal, das komplett leer war, bis auf zwei Gäste im Kellergeschoss der Bar. Wir wurden relativ frostig empfangen und unsere Bitte, im Keller essen zu dürfen, welcher sehr stylisch ist, wurde abgelehnt, weil wir nicht reserviert hatten. Stattdessen würden wir als einzige Gäste von einem Herrn relativ unfreundlich an einem Platz am Fenster verwiesen (der noch dazu relativ zugig ist). Die bestellten Speisen waren gut, nett zubereitet, aber nicht außergewöhnlich, weder geschmacklich, noch optisch. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und wirklich top! Danke, sie rettete den Abend!

Die Speisen haben die Größe einer Vorspeise und können mehr wenige von jedermann mit etwas ambitionierten Kochkünsten daheim gleich gut, oder besser hergestellt werden.

Nach dem Essen gingen wir in die Bar, dort setzte sich das Ganze fort. Es war zwar sehr schön, aber leer. Trotzdem wollte man uns zuerst nur an die Bar setzen, weil die Tische erst ab drei Personen vergeben werden werden würden. Nach etwas bitten gab man uns dann den Tisch, weil wir zusicherten, dass wir vor 21:00 Uhr wieder weg sein würden. Die Cocktails der Bar waren gut, aber kommen bei Weitem nicht an die Cocktails der SkyBar im Steffl heran.

Mit dem "Schmäh" alles sei so voll und so gut gebucht wird man nicht weit kommen, meiner Erfahrung nach. Da muss man schon ein wenig mehr Qualität nachschieben...
