The restaurant looks very nice from the outside and when you sit down there too. Except for that the experience was OK so you really should not make a stop there as a student, other bars in Vienna do that better. So we come to the biggest Red Flag, the waitress did not know what a Melange is. First, very weird when you work as a waitress in Vienna and you don't know that cafe. Secondly, it's not a problem if you don't know the café as a guest/normal person outside the gastro or don't drink much or at all. Nevertheless, you don't know the Viennese café in Vienna?? I need to admit, she made the cappuccino pretty well. I found it strange that the Classic Viennese Café was not available, apart from the fact that the bar is only English speaking. Who does not offer such a café in Vienna then something is missing. Like every other English Restaurant/Hotel offers that, why not you? Further to the prices for the drinks I find it fair. Food I can not judge. Another thing would be that when I arrived I did not get a menu card. Which is strange because how do I know what is available and what is not. Then I asked for the menu and the person told me what was for dinner. Which I didn't ask for and I interrupted twice and said I...
Read moreI'm quite ambivalent about this hotel restaurant.
On the one hand, my dinner experience the first night we stayed here was bad. There were not so many vegetarian options to choose from, so I took sautéd chatarells. As their menu says that "not all the ingredients are stated", I thought that that there will be something else in that dish. But no, it was just mushrooms with a bit of parsley. And they were super oily. Very unsatisfying dinner that left me hungry. We never came back for dinner again.
But on the other hand, the breakfast buffet is great. I love salads for breakfast and it seems impossible to get those in Vienna. It's all eggs and bread and sweet stuff, eggs and bread everywhere. I would not eat that if they paid me. And here, in this glorious buffet, there is a variety of fresh vegetables, dressings, additions. You can make a great breakfast salad! Yeah, it will be one of the most expensive salads you ever ate, but at least it will exist :).
The service is also quite pleasant...
Read moreThe breakfast service costs 17 € and believe me the best part of it was the fruits. The food is below average and the worst part was that the boiled eggs were all uncooked and disgusting! Upon mentioning it to the lady at the front of the buffet, they said many people have problems with our soft boiled eggs but our head chef refuses to fully boil them!!! Which to me sounds stupid and weird! So they rather people throw out their eggs rather than doing it properly?! Cause of their ego or there something I don’t get here. All of the eggs were way too undercooked and had runny white. I don’t mind eating medium to soft boiled eggs but the eggs here are disgusting so keep that in mind before paying 17...
