A Disappointing Experience at Koufieh Restaurant

This morning, a group of nine ladies and I headed to Koufieh Restaurant, hoping for a peaceful, authentic breakfast by the sea. Unfortunately, our experience was anything but enjoyable.

To start with, the food was far below expectations. The labneh tasted like the generic Turkish creamy variety, lacking the sourness and flavor that Middle Easterners typically enjoy. The صفيحة اليافوية was another disappointment; the meat was incredibly dry and far from appetizing. Even worse, the basterma used in the omelette wasn’t authentic and was unbearably salty. The only redeeming items were the fresh bread, hummus, and zaatar—basic staples that didn’t make up for the rest of the subpar offerings.

The service was even more frustrating than the food. Despite being seated outside for a serene breakfast experience, the owner decided to blast the music at full volume, making it impossible for us to converse. I politely requested the waiter to lower the volume multiple times, but he blatantly ignored me. When I persisted and asked him to come to our table, he dismissively waved his hand from afar, an unacceptable response for any establishment. After he finally approached, his unapologetic response was, “The owner wants the music so loud.”

It was baffling to see an owner prioritize personal preferences over customer satisfaction, especially in a setting meant to offer relaxation. We didn’t come to a nightclub; we came for a peaceful morning by the sea. The lack of customer service and respect was infuriating, and this blatant disregard for the guests ruined what should have been a pleasant experience.

Koufieh Restaurant has lost nine customers for life, and I will make it a point to share this experience with everyone I know. If you’re looking for good food, peaceful ambiance, or even basic customer service, I would strongly suggest...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Alkofeia, a Palestinian restaurant located in the Water Garden City of Bahrain, and I must say that it was an absolutely exceptional experience. From the warm and welcoming ambiance to the traditional Palestinian touches throughout the decor, every detail was perfect.

The food at Alkofeia was nothing short of amazing. Each dish was expertly prepared and beautifully presented, highlighting the unique flavors and textures of Palestinian cuisine. From the hummus and fattoush salad to the falafel, grilled lamb meat with veggies, magluba chicken and mahlabia dessert, every bite was a treat.

But what really stood out to me was the attention to detail and exceptional service that the staff provided.

From the complimentary starters to the use of traditional Palestinian headgear (gutra) to cover the warm, fluffy bread, every detail was attended to with care and precision.

In my opinion, Alkofeia deserves more than 5 stars. The warm and welcoming atmosphere, exceptional food, and attention to detail make it a must-visit for anyone passionate about Palestinian cuisine.

I always come to Alkofeia whenever I’m looking for the perfect combination of good food and a relaxing outdoor setting. This time, I had breakfast, and as always, it was a great experience.

I ordered manaqesh with labneh and spicy labneh, shakshuka, an omelet, falafel sada, and a pot of karak. Everything was delicious! The flavors were rich and well-balanced, and the freshness of the ingredients really stood out. One of the highlights was the warm, freshly baked bread, soft and the perfect complement to every dish. However, I did notice that the karak gets cold quickly, as there’s nothing to keep it warm, which would be a great improvement for the experience.

The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, giving guests options depending on their preference. The outdoor area has a well-designed shading system, which covers the space when it's sunny or rainy and opens up when the weather is nice.

If you're looking for a place that offers great food with a stunning sea view, Alkofeia is the perfect spot. Whether you're here for a meal or just a cup of cold or hot drink while enjoying the breeze ( I recommend coming by for dinner ), the experience is always worth it.
