Jawa Indonesia Restaurant — Restaurant in Bahrain Island

Located on an off-the-beaten path astride a cemetary, this venue is one of the few in Bahrain that has Indonesian cuisine on offer. Great chicken fried rice but I added four chopped red chilis for some "zing." Aneka bakso (assorted meatballs in a broth of noodles) was bland and the meat was not to my liking; one hollow meatball contained a hard-boiled egg. Much prefer the Vietnamese beef soup pho. Godo godo (mixed veggies, replete wirh tofu, with peanut sauce) was regrettably unappetizing. No satay available at least when I dined at this venue tonight. No fish on the menu (although the Javanese lady chef maintained that she can make shrimp fried rice using small dried shrimp). This is strange given that fresh local shrimp is in season now in the local market. Menu is only in Indonesian so do some research on Indonesian food before you go. Free and ample parking is located in a parking lot not far from the venue. Go if you are feeling adventurous and want to sample Indonesian fare. Old Manama is know to have a mixture of restaurants from different countries and this was the only Indonesian one we can find in Bahrain (so far). Apparently there are 2 others. Place has been operating for almost 3 years and is a gathering hub for the Indonesian community here. As a restaurant, like many in old Manama it would fall under the no frills, casual dining category (don’t expect a 5-star setting) but food wise; this is as authentic as it gets! You won’t get any better on the island (at the time of writing). Highly recommend the Nasi Padang; the beef rendang and potato sambal is to die for. Portions are pretty generous too. At the beginning I arrived there they asked for cash only, running away from taxes.

I had to drove for about 20 mins to find an ATM.

I arrived home finally, I tested the food, it was super super super spicy for no reason at all.

I will not be at this resturant again never and ever.
