Ok it was cheap and I can hand on heart say that our expectations were fully met, that being said we expected very little. (20BD a night what was I hoping for?)||||As we drove towards the hotel we suddenly left Bahrain and traveled through central Deli, India at what appeared to be rush hour. In all fairness awards should have been given for utilization of all available space for parking, especially the triple parked cars on the one-way system which can only be described as a modern art master piece this needs to be seen to be believed.||||One of my friends went inside to inquire about parking, after a short time admiring the unfinished stone to the exterior of the building and the impressive balancing of Air conditioner Condensers on iron brackets, which had been artistically finished to resemble rust in appearance. My friend reappeared with a small smiling Indian dude, who proceeded to climb into the car to direct me to the hotels car park. ||||In doing so he also thought a tour of the local area would be appreciated, so we set off to test my driving skills, with World Rally Championship precision pace notes he proceeded to take me on the most scenic route of Central Deli, waving to the right and shouting left to test my intelligence.||||We come full circle and are now behind the hotel, in what looks to be the remains of a building that was bombed. Here there are a hand full of spaces all taken, I squeeze my vehicle in between the remaining walls of the previous building and park the car.||||We disembark and with luggage in tow and proceed to navigate back to the hotel.||||A nice water feature greets us as we move into reception, No not the fish tank to the right, but the leak dripping from the ceiling next to the reception desk.||||We speak with the receptionist showing him our booking confirmation he immediately looks confused. We have booked 4 rooms… He hands us 2 keys and points to the lift. Now I’m no Carol Vorderman but I think we are 2 keys short.||||We all try to discuss the problem with the receptionist, he was a pleasant enough chap, but in between remembering to breathe in and out I don’t think he would manage to sign his own name on his Mensa application form.||||Eventually after counting out loud the number of people and the number of keys, what can only be described as a loud ringing of a bell moment happened with 2 more keys being handed over.||||We step into the lift which to give it credit did exactly what I expected of it, it lifted myself and my fellow companions to the correct floor as indicated on the control panel. As we stepped out of the lift I notice what can be the best sign ever, I can appreciate the additional effort and psychological case studies involved to produce the sign "3ed FLLOR" which in an inebriated state would actually read "3rd Floor"||||We are followed up by another small Indian chap (must have a supply of them) who proceeds to put the key in the already open doors to our rooms. One of the room doors fell off as it was opened. No really I kid you not! It dropped off its top hinge and required manhandling to be put back in place.||||My room was dated and smelt of old smoke the air conditioner once energized proceeded to try break free from the wall every so often. I think even it didn't want to stay the night. ||||The bed sheets had holes in them and lots of burn marks. Most of the light fittings didn’t work except the big light (no, not an 8ft bulb I mean the main light)||The bathroom was functional and was a complete wet room with a big drain in the middle, when you have a shower you can see the floor isn’t quite level as puddles form in various places away from the drain.||||Whilst sat on the toilet they have included a fun game, the insects wandering around the bathroom can be shot down the drain with the little hosepipe at the side of the toilet, which passes the time and beats reading an imaginary paper.||||Once we had freshened up… well I think you could call it that. We went back to collect the car, we are now blocked in. So using my experience of being a contortionist in a previous life I got the car out and back on the road. ||||Upon driving back to the hotel to find no where to park i resorted to mounting the curb and then bribing a local to watch the car we got changed to go out for the evening. We all agreed that we would lock anything valuable in the car and park it at the Diva hotel located some miles away. (A much nicer Hotel where we usually stay) as we didn't trust the staff.. locals… or insects that inhabited the hotel.||||All in all it was...
Read moreI stayed for 5 hours at the Le Vondome Hotel in Manama, Bahrain. This had to be, by far the worst hotel experience I have ever had. ||||The hotel was initially booked as the website stated that they offer an airport shuttle service. This turned out not to be true so I had to pay 6BD taxi fare to find the hotel.||||The man on the reception desk was as helpful as he could be....However...|| ||The decor of the room was very poor with paint peeling off the walls. The hot water tank in the bathroom was constantly leaking. The room was supposed to be ready but I had to request the hotel basics of a towel, soap and shampoo. The photos on the website obviously misrepresented what I booked.||||I accept that having only paid 52BD for 4 nights I should not expect too much.||||However when I book a hotel I should expect a certain standard of cleanliness and decency.||||Firstly I was unable to pay by credit card. Paying by card always gives an extra layer of security which I find reassuring. Having just arrived in the country I of course had not carried cash for this purpose. I was shown by the porter/maintenance man where the cash point machine was and instructed to get cash.||||Secondly I was surprised to be approached by a woman at the hotel asking me if ‘I wanted some business’. I was not expecting this in Bahrain and politely declined.||||Thirdly the hotel and my room was so smoked filled though the shisha room which was supposed to be a restaurant I could not breath properly. ||||...but finally to cap it all...when a rat ran across me I decided it was time for me to leave and find another hotel.||||The manager of the hotel seemed very non plussed at my complaints as I asked for my money back and a taxi for me to leave. He was reluctant to do so. I had to keep complaining and pointing out that I would not be staying in a rat infested hotel. ||||By chance a man who said he was the hotel owner, sitting listening to my complaints agreed that I should receive back part of my money and put me in a taxi so I was out of their lobby. The owner explains to me the area in which the hotel was placed and that it was not the sort of hotel that a tourist like myself should...
Read moreWould give a zero If possible. Went to the hotel less than an hour after I made an online booking (their telephone is not working). There was no one at the reception. There is no security or staff of any kind. Eventually after 15mins the receptionist arrived. I told her I needed to cancel as 1. I had the dates incorrect and 2. The hotel is completely misrepresented online. She told me to contact OYO. When I asked for the details she told me she doesn't have them. I asked for a manager she said he would say the same.
The "hotel" (which is just a derelict building atop 5 illegal bars) was dirty, smelled of smoke, full of cockroaches and mites.
Please avoid even on a budget there are cheaper and far superior places to stay. Do not put your health and...
