Customer service is good. Our waiter was very friendly and helped us decide which dishes and drinks would be best for us.
However, the food isn't all that great compared to the hype over this restraunt. Yes, I agree that the food is presented fabulously, but that's all there is to it.
It's taste just didn't make me go "wow" or make me feel that it was worth the money.
In addition to this they don't even have that mush of a variety of dishes in their menu. Most of the curries or rice dishes on the menu are quite common in other low-end indian restraunts.
Honestly, I could've had a better gastronomical experience at a place like lantern, mehwar, or even copper chimney or Mumbai spice at a much lower cost. I didn't feel the food was worth the extravagant amount of money they are charging.
I'm not saying that they don't have any new and unique dishes. Some of the 'chaats' and Indian desserts were new to me or had a twist to them.
I also noticed that the walls of the restraunt was in quite a bad state. The wall were cracked and you can it is plastered very roughly. And don't go telling me that that's the interior design because I'm not believing that story.
Cracked and stained walls are not something you would expect from a restraunt in a 5-star hotel. Even though Gulf hotel is known for being quite old, it doesn't mean they slack of in maintenance.
To summarize I would say the menu need more dishes in its main course and restraunt is in dire need...
Read moreWe planned to visit the restaurant on occasion of our wedding anniversary and we informed them on very short notice about the reservation. The management was quick enough to contact me for organising our table. When we visited the first impression on ambience was just fabulous. One of the best ambience we have seen in a restaurant so far. The staff is very professional and they are quite pleasant. We were greeted warmly and the staff took good care of us during our stay. Now comes the food part which is why we visited this place. The food is pretty delicious and there are so many new recipes never heard of. We are pure vegetarians but it did not matter with whatever they had in store for us. The food was superb and we were full within no time. On the price I would say it's bit on higher end but you got to cut loose so as to experience that kind of hospitality and service with fabulous ambience and ofcourse delicious food. Chef Vineet would be proud to be part of...
Read moreThe interiors feel a bit dated. As an Indian myself, I didn’t find the food to be as flavorful as I’m used to. It’s clearly catering to the Arab and western palate. All the food was okay at best. The samosa chat was just okay, the sauces weren’t very flavorful. The little amuse-bouche served at the beginning was a savory lentil patty with chickpeas, I found this to be very dry. The drinks were excellent and catered to my preference. The grilled paneer agin was just okay. It looked a big undergrilled as well. The garlic naan was also underwhelming. The jalebi milk cake dessert was good but very sweet, but I believe that’s by design as jalebis are very sweet. Overall, I was not impressed as I was looking forward to this for a long time. I was expecting elevated Indian cuisine but found it to be a watered down version of it. I would not return. The staff and service were the only great parts of...
