The interiors feel a bit dated. As an Indian myself, I didn’t find the food to be as flavorful as I’m used to. It’s clearly catering to the Arab and western palate. All the food was okay at best. The samosa chat was just okay, the sauces weren’t very flavorful. The little amuse-bouche served at the beginning was a savory lentil patty with chickpeas, I found this to be very dry. The drinks were excellent and catered to my preference. The grilled paneer agin was just okay. It looked a big undergrilled as well. The garlic naan was also underwhelming. The jalebi milk cake dessert was good but very sweet, but I believe that’s by design as jalebis are very sweet. Overall, I was not impressed as I was looking forward to this for a long time. I was expecting elevated Indian cuisine but found it to be a watered down version of it. I would not return. The staff and service were the only great parts of the experience.

If you want a fine dining experience, this is the place to be. If you are celebrating a bday or an anniversary, they would make it even more special. My husband had surprised me for our 10th anniversary. The table was decorated elegantly and from the starters everything was on point. The staff were very welcoming. From the beverages to the starters, through main course and an amazing surprise cake for anniversary! Everything was smooth and delicious. Light on stomach too. Flavours were on point. Not overwhelming at all. Since we had an amazing experience at indego by vineet in Qatar, we knew this was the place to celebrate our special day.. Thanks chef Vineet for this amazing ambiance and lip smacking food. To feel the class, do visit

Went to the Rasoi restaurant in the Gulf Hotel during Covid. Had to pre-book the table and was asked to sign a self health declaration of travel, health condition of self and family members. We went for the set menu (as we were 4 members). The starters were great - lamb kabab, mustard chicken Tikka (very good), samosa with cheese and tandoori prawns with coconut chutney(unique combination). Main course included, fish Malai masala, dal tadka, chicken Tikka masala and the lamb biryani. Fish MALAI masala was unique as it had cheese topping, not tasted it anywhere else. The chicken Tikka was disappointing.. Lamb biryani was nothing special. The deserts were great with mango kulfi, salted caramel kulfi and chocolate chikki.

Customer service is good. Our waiter was very friendly and helped us decide which dishes and drinks would be best for us.

However, the food isn't all that great compared to the hype over this restraunt. Yes, I agree that the food is presented fabulously, but that's all there is to it.

It's taste just didn't make me go "wow" or make me feel that it was worth the money.

In addition to this they don't even have that mush of a variety of dishes in their menu. Most of the curries or rice dishes on the menu are quite common in other low-end indian restraunts.

Honestly, I could've had a better gastronomical experience at a place like lantern, mehwar, or even copper chimney or Mumbai spice at a much lower cost. I didn't feel the food was worth the extravagant amount of money they are charging.

I'm not saying that they don't have any new and unique dishes. Some of the 'chaats' and Indian desserts were new to me or had a twist to them.

I also noticed that the walls of the restraunt was in quite a bad state. The wall were cracked and you can it is plastered very roughly. And don't go telling me that that's the interior design because I'm not believing that story.

Cracked and stained walls are not something you would expect from a restraunt in a 5-star hotel. Even though Gulf hotel is known for being quite old, it doesn't mean they slack of in maintenance.

To summarize I would say the menu need more dishes in its main course and restraunt is in dire need...

We planned to visit the restaurant on occasion of our wedding anniversary and we informed them on very short notice about the reservation. The management was quick enough to contact me for organising our table. When we visited the first impression on ambience was just fabulous. One of the best ambience we have seen in a restaurant so far. The staff is very professional and they are quite pleasant. We were greeted warmly and the staff took good care of us during our stay. Now comes the food part which is why we visited this place. The food is pretty delicious and there are so many new recipes never heard of. We are pure vegetarians but it did not matter with whatever they had in store for us. The food was superb and we were full within no time. On the price I would say it's bit on higher end but you got to cut loose so as to experience that kind of hospitality and service with fabulous ambience and ofcourse delicious food. Chef Vineet would be proud to be part of...
