A Delightful Morning at Cafe Lilou, Bahrain
My recent breakfast experience at Cafe Lilou in Bahrain was nothing short of delightful. From the moment I stepped inside, I was enveloped in an atmosphere of elegant charm. The decor was sophisticated and inviting, creating a truly lovely ambiance to start the day.
My order consisted of a classic Eggs Benedict, a side of perfectly toasted bread, and their tempting hotcakes accompanied by a generous array of fresh berries and their signature buttery spread. To complete the meal, I opted for a simple black coffee.
I'm pleased to report that every element of my breakfast was delicious. The Eggs Benedict were executed flawlessly, with perfectly poached eggs and a rich, velvety hollandaise sauce. The toasted bread was crisp and provided a satisfying contrast in texture. However, the real star of the show might have been the hotcakes. They were light and fluffy, and the combination of the sweet berries and the incredibly moreish signature buttery spread was simply divine. Even the black coffee was well-brewed and robust, providing the perfect caffeine kick.
Beyond the exceptional food, what truly elevated my experience was the attentiveness of the staff. From the moment I was seated until I left, they were consistently friendly, efficient, and readily available without being intrusive. This level of service was undoubtedly a major plus for Cafe Lilou and significantly contributed to the overall...
Read moreA cosy and elegant place that serves delicious dishes that are a beautiful sight for the eyes. Being an eggetarian, I ordered the omelette dupireé and the plaisir fruité. The omelette was delicious and rich yet there was a certain light and fluffiness to the omelette. Personally i prefer the style of french omelettes compared to an American style omelette. The plaisir fruite was really tasty as well. The passion fruit puree has a slight acidity that cuts through the creaminess of the ice cream and balances it really well. A small detail that I liked was the elongated spoon that is served with it. In addition, my father ordered the casablanca shakshouka with bread on the side which was really good as well. however, if I were to order it again, I’d ask for a spicer version of it. The garlic labneh was amazing and it paired really well with the tomato sauce and eggs. Overall a delightful experience and would highly recommend it for a breakfast or brunch.
P.S be ready to spend approximately 10BD per person. If you were on a tighter budget, it would be better to save a bit more money and then treat yourself for a great experience...
Read moreRamadan 2021 Menu is so out of character of Lilou’s. It is far beyond disappointing to the point I actually asked the manager if the chef has changed.99% of the dishes from starters to desserts on the menu appear to be schizophrenic with 3-4 different dishes incorporated in one making it hard to appreciate any flavor or find a hero and make no culinary sense. There is over 85% repetition in dishes making it lack variety and if you for example dislike vine leaves or have an allergy to an ingredient such as sesame or almonds you will be limited. There wasn’t a single prawn dish- whatever happened to the prawn kunafa. The food lacked originality, va va voom and was absolutely lifeless including zero theatrical presentation once a landmark of Lilou’s. Add to that the waiters and waitresses were inattentive, slow , lazy and interrogate you for requesting a spoon. There is no doubt in my mind this Ramadan a single visit will put off the most regular customers like myself and my family from going for a second visit for Iftar or even to grab dessert. Lilou’s Ramadan 2021 has lost the race for me. CHEF bring...
