Pricey with Some Standouts: My Experience at Kiyoshi Recently, I had the opportunity to dine at Kiyoshi, a Japanese restaurant that has been generating some buzz. My experience was a mixed bag, with some notable disappointments alongside a truly exceptional item. First impressions of the ambiance were somewhat dimmed by the noticeable lack of effective air conditioning. This made for a less than comfortable dining experience, especially on a warmer evening. Moving on to the food, we ordered a selection of Maki rolls and their highly touted Spicy Udon (priced at a steep 1995/-). The Maki, while perhaps aesthetically pleasing, were surprisingly small for the cost. This left us feeling that we weren't getting much value for our money in terms of portion size. The Spicy Udon, the most expensive dish we tried, unfortunately, did not live up to its price tag. While it was an okay dish in terms of taste, it certainly didn't justify the nearly 2000 BDT price point. We've had better udon for significantly less elsewhere. However, a definite highlight of the meal was the Coconut Freeze. This drink was absolutely amazing – incredibly refreshing and so delicious. It was a standout item that I would wholeheartedly recommend. Overall, my experience at Kiyoshi was a bit of a roller coaster. The high prices, small portion sizes (especially for the Maki), and a malfunctioning air conditioning system were definite drawbacks. The average Spicy Udon also didn't justify its cost. That being said, the truly fantastic Coconut Freeze offers a reason to consider a visit, perhaps focusing on their beverage menu. Unless significant improvements are made to their food value and ambiance, I would suggest exploring other Japanese dining options in the area, but definitely keep the Coconut Freeze in mind if you do...
Read moreThis is an excellent place to experience Japanese dining with friends and family. We went there to give a Sushi try. I love their cozy ambience and the attention to detail in their decoration creates a serene and inviting ambiance, transporting you to Japan. The atmosphere was calm and smooth music can take you away from the crowd. If one wants to taste Japanese food for the first time, I would like to recommend Ebi Mate Sake and Lava Roll. Food is a bit pricey but tastes amazing. Additionally, their extensive drink menu offers a variety of sake options that perfectly complement the flavors of their dishes. The staff is always friendly and attentive. I loved their water bottle. The pottery they use are so beautiful.
There is a balcony and you can smoke their. It is decorated with bonsai, small fountains, trees and lamps. It's the perfect spot to relax after having a great meal. In addition to their beautiful balcony, the restaurant also offers complementary foodstuffs to enhance the dining experience. These delicious treats add an extra touch of hospitality to the overall meal. One can order through Food Panda or Hungry Naki as well but will miss the soothing interior.
Reservation isn't mandatory. But I would like to suggest you to reserve beforehand specially for the weekend eve. There is a beautiful zen garden where you can take photos. They have a parking lot but may be they share it with the Thai Emerald. It's in first floor and have no wheelchair access. Kids can also...

If you’re looking to explore authentic Japanese flavors in Dhaka, Kiyoshi in Gulshan is one of the few places that really delivers. The moment you walk in, you’re met with a cozy, Japanese-inspired ambiance — slightly dim lighting, staff in traditional-style uniforms, and an open sushi-making counter that adds to the overall experience. The main dining area is on the second floor, and there’s also a nice balcony space at the front.
This time I tried the Fusion Boat, which includes a mix of mostly cooked sushi and a few raw selections. Personally, I preferred their Sushi Boat from a previous visit — it leaned more toward traditional sushi with richer, raw flavors. That said, the food quality remains excellent across the board — everything tasted fresh, well-balanced, and flavorful.
The staff were warm and welcoming, even serving a complimentary egg dish as a starter, which was a nice touch. Seating is ample, and they can accommodate both small and large groups comfortably. Parking is available, but be aware that the building also houses another restaurant downstairs, so it might get a bit tight during peak hours.
Prices are on the higher side, but justified considering the location, quality, and niche offering.
Recommended? Definitely — especially for those easing into Japanese cuisine or seeking a premium sushi experience in Dhaka.
