Secret Recipe Shantinagar — Restaurant in Dhaka Metropolitan

Another disappointing experience at yet another Secret Recipe. Again, if I'm paying more than 6 or 6 hundred for a chicken dish, I'd expect it to be either really tasty and / or of a good amount. But just like my previous experience, the food was horribly bland. Even they amount was not satisfactory. The sides were in laughable amount, and the other platter had rice that smelled and tasted like rice startch with zero fragrance of butter! We regretted ordering both items. Other than the food, the service was fine, and the waitress who took our order seemed good at her job. However, as soon as we were done with the food, she took our plate and placed the bill on our table, without us even asking for it! I understand the restaurant is pretty small and congested, and if we hog a table for a long time, people might have to wait. But there were empty tables, and secret recipe is not like those roadside breakfast hotels that would need us to leave immediately. So this particular incident bothered us. Secret Recipe is one of my most favourite food chains. Shantinagar branch fulfilled my expectations also. I ordered mushroom soup, chicken algravo rice bowl. The creamy thick mushroom soup had a perfect texture and filling taste. The rice bowl had an appetizing homely taste and the amount was enough for even two people. The rice bowl came with a delicious lemon tart. The behaviour of the staff was very warm and supporting. Another good thing about secret recipe is its atmosphere with a very well lit system. Secret recipe did not disappoint yet. They have an overpriced menu, but they try to follow the actual recipe. I love their pasties, and the food is almost up to mark. Usually, squid or octopus are very rubbery. they need to be boiled until they are fork tender. The squid was crispy and very soft, french fries were crunchy, and they did not get soggy over time.
