Bakeliet is a wonderful good energy bar that has a very different feel depending on what time of day you visit. It's one of the only places I found in its part of Antwerp that opens early (8:45 AM most days) and serves coffee. If you go in the morning, it's a nice quiet spot with people drinking coffee or ordering simple breakfasts, and either chatting or working from their laptops. In the morning, it's a great place to get absorbed in a little writing or laptop work. Tables are clean and spacious and they've got excellent WiFi. This being Belgium, Bakeliet really shines when it comes to its beers, and the place livens up as the afternoon turns into evening. They've got four or five well-chosen Belgians on tap, plus a dozen other bottled beers, all served in the appropriate glassware. Tim, the owner, is there most mornings and evenings, and he's a nice, nice person. His staff is terrific too. If you're visiting Antwerp and Bakeliet is anywhere near you, you'll be missing out if you don't visit. It's as friendly and welcoming a bar as...

One warning though, while it is perfectly fine to set up your own table from their stacks/supply in summer, do make sure you don’t settle down on the bike path that runs (almost directly) through...
Read moreGreat bar to have around. Nice probably one of the best in the area. With the expanded terrace you can enjoy the sun almost all day long. When the weather is good obviously. Free WiFi, might be an OK place to work a little as well. Inside everything is as vintage as possible. Quite nice and charming. There are some live gigs every once in a while. Overall I'm just happy to have ot around. Coffee, chai, cocktails... all pretty good as well. But let's just say it's not...
