Café Mombasa — Restaurant in Antwerp

Mombasa feels like a true Belgian cafe that’s moved with the times but kept its authenticity. A crowd favourite in the larger Borgerhout area, the Mombasa looks out over the old Borgerhout town hall square. In summer this provides a sweet backdrop for your outside beer enjoyment. Being an up to date pub, Mombasa also offers a selection of wines, soda’s and alcohol free options. I’m not saying it’s the ultimate Antwerp cafe, but I’d be surprised to find anyone in Antwerp who hasn’t experienced an enjoyable afternoon/evening here. Friendly little place with good all round vibe. We went in from 1 am till close at around 3. Had a great time. The staff were friendly and relaxed. The music was classic throwback tunes and dancing was encouraged. The people that go there are friendly and willing to chat. The beer is good both on tap and by bottle. Pros: Nice setting/framework. Great variety of beers. Friendly, easy-going staff. Convenient opening hours. Easy-going clientele. Overlooked part of Antwerp city (Borgerhout). Live concerts on sunday, free of charge!

Cons: Bartenders (male/female) are obviously no professionals but sideliners which results in minor flaws (both technical as practical). Dull...
