I recently visited this restaurant for the second time, hoping to recreate the wonderful experience I had on my first visit. The first time around, everything was exceptional—excellent service, delicious food, and great wines. I was so impressed that I chose this spot to celebrate my partner’s birthday over lunch. Unfortunately, this visit was a complete 180 from my first experience, leaving me deeply disappointed.
From the start, the service was lacking. We ordered our starters along with two wines by the glass. My wine tasted flat, so I politely asked the server if the bottle had been open for a while—this wasn’t a big deal for me, and I simply wanted to check. However, the server immediately became defensive and confrontational, insisting that the bottle had just been opened. Trying to avoid any tension, I calmly said that it was fine and that I would keep the wine. The issue could have been easily resolved here, but instead, the server escalated the situation.
She took the wine to the chef, who then came over and spoke to me in a condescending manner, explaining the wine in a way that felt patronizing. All I wanted was for the uncomfortable exchange to end, so I again said it was okay. But then, shockingly, the chef rudely yanked the glass from the table, stating that if I didn’t like it, I shouldn’t have to drink it. It felt completely unnecessary and disrespectful.
The server returned with a different wine, which wasn’t what I ordered, and did so with a passive-aggressive tone, saying something like, “Since you didn’t like the other wine, this one should do it.” I knew what I had ordered, and the wine was simply not right, but instead of resolving the issue, they continued to make the experience worse. To make matters even more frustrating, when the server came to clear our starter plates, she didn’t even ask if we wanted to order our main course.
By this point, the experience had become so unpleasant that we decided to leave before ordering any more food. It was an incredibly disappointing and uncomfortable experience from start to finish.
Please do better for...
Read moreI just walked in one evening and was lucky enough to have a free seat. From then on it was a perfect restaurant visit from start to end. The staff is very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The champagne was great. The charcuterie plate was amazing: the two cured meats of beef and the chorizo just had the right fattiness and were packed with flavour. The starter was a croquette of ox tail accompanied by a tarragon mayonaise which kept the dish very balanced. The main was a sirloin steak with some potatoes and lettuce. A simple dish, but executed to perfection. For dessert I had the soft icecream with raspberries which was very refreshing and nostalgic. After that I couldn't resist taking a second dessert which doesn't in any way mean that the portions are too small, just that my tastebuds were longing for more. It was the café glacé that convinced me. I wasn't expecting anything breathtaking, but it really took me by surprise anyway. It had the perfect creaminess, the perfect strength of coffee flavour and the perfect smooth consistency. For the wine I relied on advice of the waiter. After I told her what I was looking for, she suggested a 2021 Spätburgunder by Meyer and Näkel, two female winemakers. For me it had the right acidity and freshness I hoped for. So don't hesitate going there and let your instincts guide you to choose your dishes and let the staff guide you through their diverse wine list. My final advice is to follow the satisfying rhythm of their skilled...
Read moreEnglish: I can only say WOW! Two of my friends and I saw this place here on Google Maps, and because of the quite good ratings and our wish of eating our first good steak in Belgium we went here. We had 50 minutes for eating, because we where part of a Austrian school trip. As soon as we entered the comftable building we where welcomed by a very friendly guy, who helped us choosing our meals. You do have the possibility to sit next to the kitchen-bar, so did we. Everything was good looking and beautiful. We ordered the lunch menu, and because we were not allowed to drink any alcohol, we got a discount at the end. They were even so nice to exchange my pork steak with a delicious dry aged beef from the southern France instead of my wine. At the end we payed only 20€ per the pork steak, and 25€ for the dry aged beef steak, which usually costs in its quality class more then 60€ in other places! Summary: Extremely delicious, fine and fresh food for reasonable prices, and an extraordinary friendly staff! Can only recommend it. P.S.: The wine is also...
