Great Italian food, and friendly staff. Every time we go to Antwerp, there’s a 90% chance we’re going to eat here at this family restaurant. The menu is adjusted for the tourism of-course, since you can find items like Pizza Hawaii and Pasta Carbonara on the menu. That has nothing to do with the great quality of the food. This particular time we went for a Calzone (folded pizza), and a juicy medium cooked Grilled beef with Mushroom sauce (Bistecca ai Ferri), both paired with some sweet Lambrusco Rosso/Red wine. To finished it off we took a Cannoli Con Ricotta as a dessert, all so delicious! Best to go when it’s not packed if you want a slower, more cozy (romantic) atmosphere, since the waiters go crazy Italian frantic (funny to see) during that time. Some of the also staff speak a lot of languages (e.g. Italian, English, Dutch, French, German, …).

The last time I visited this restaurant was around 8 years ago. I didn't exactly remember my experience so we decided to grab a pizza there. We come across this place quite often whenever we are in that area. As many people before me already mentioned, the staff always tries to get as many people as possible to enter the restaurant. Unfortunately, it is the case even when it's completely full. I can imagine this may affect one's experience greatly. The restaurant was, however, quite empty when we decided to visit it, so the service was prompt which was very nice. We decided to order a pizza Funghi and Quattro Formaggi, as well as Calzone. The portions were huge but the pizzas were, unfortunately, extremely greasy... I understand that it's typical for Italians to sprinkle their pizzas with some olive oil after baking them but that was definitely way too much. Because of that, the pizzas felt greasy and heavy and so I would not eat a pizza there again. Moreover, the staff was quite friendly but the general atmosphere in the restaurant felt stressful. It was impossible to relax and enjoy your meal properly as everything around just felt rushed. In general, I think this place focuses more on getting as many customers as possible rather than on the quality of food and service they provide.

The Pizza Scampi was really good and with 18€ also in a acceptable price range. Also the free olives and the bread are a nice extra. The location, right in the center is of course not to beat. One thing that really bothered me was that the beer I ordered was half full of foam. When I waited 3 minutes and the foam was gone, I only had half a full glass. I spoke to the waiter and told him that I had not yet taken a sip (see my picture). But he saw no problem in it and only briefly explained that this is because the beer is not draft and comes out of the bottle and thus everything would be correct. Sorry.. but then I don't have to order a LARGE beer for around 5€ if I get 330ml from the bottle. What put the whole thing into positive perspective for me was the fact that as a student you get a 20% discount. That's a great thing and the whole thing re-enhanced for me.

I went on a Saturday night and the fact that I didn’t have to wait for a table was a great start. They brought me some bread with olives before I ordered anything which were really good. I got the tomatoes soup as an appetizer, and then got the seared steak with spaghetti for my main course. They have generous portions (especially the soup). The main course took a while to come out (about 40 minutes) but considering how busy there were I had no problem with it. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the spaghetti sauce was delicious. I sat outside and the whole atmosphere felt really nice and authentic. I will definitely be back there the next time I’m in Antwerp. Great experience overall. Highly recommend if you’re looking for some good quality Italian food in Antwerp.

Da Giovanni was the first restaurant we ate at when we arrived in Antwerp. The waiter showed us to the table & he had such a “we’re pleased to serve you” attitude which we loved. We’ve been avoiding dining out because sometimes it feels as if we’re just a lump of money for someone that wants to get richer and richer, but with Da Giovanni the feeling was completely the opposite. We ended up coming here twice just because of the staff & great food. We’ll always be back here when possible. Order the zuppa di pesce, the classic bruschetta or any pasta dish (al’amatriciana is to die for) & I’ll guarantee you’ll never want to eat at any other Italian place in Antwerp.

It's very crowded and fast paced, but that doesn't make it a bad restaurant. The staff and food was really good. I ordered the Vegetarian spaghetti, Shrimp Pasta and Pesto. The pesto was the best. We ended up asking for me pesto sauce to add in our pasta 😂 There are two parts of the restaurant. I was told they normally call for people to come in, but we ended walking in. It has a real Italian feel. I was told it's a family restaurant so they speak Italian, English, Flemish, Dutch, and German. They also serve olives, butter and fresh bread. It's so delicious😍😍😍 I highly recommend this restaurant.
