We had a very good evening at Huis de Colvenier. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere made the experience very special. When we arrived, we were taken to a beautiful underground wine cellar where we enjoyed an appetizer and a drink. It’s a lovely, unique space that set a great tone for the evening. While we were in the winery, the chef personally came to offer some special dishes, which was a very nice touch.
However, one thing we regret is not asking for the price of the special dishes offered. While everything we ate was truly delicious, we were quite surprised by the final bill. For four people, we paid 580 euros without dessert and a 40 euros bottle of wine, which felt excessive — especially considering we had seen an average price of around 90 euros per person on one of the review portals. It left us with the impression that they took advantage of us a bit, which was disappointing after such an otherwise great experience.
Overall, it’s a beautiful restaurant with excellent food, but we recommend asking clearly about prices before accepting any...
Read moreWe were staying upstairs at the hotel and had dinner here. It started with aperitif and amuse bouche downstairs in the wine cellar, which is an amazing space that extends far beyond the upstairs property lines. The chef/owner Patrick came downstairs to discuss what we wanted for our meal. Three courses, four courses, five, you name it. We opted for three courses and explained our dietary restrictions (no meat or shellfish for two, but meat OK for the third).
Patrick suggested the lamb, which our teenage daughter had never had but agreed to try. We were all very pleased with the food.
The fish courses (first and second) would have fit perfectly at Le Bernardin, perfectly done (as were the accompanying vegetables).
I got the wine accompaniments recommended and they were first rate.
Obviously, this restaurant is expensive, but it’s also a good value for the money. Well worth it for a...
Read moreWe had aperitif in the wine cellar and a menu with 4 courses. The chef - Patrick - who is also the owner of this restaurant explained us every dish and also added some variation of his own ideas into the menu. We really liked that because the variations were interesting and just on spot. The food quality is great.
If you plan to go there make sure to take your time and visit the wine cellar which is looking for his own kind. It felt like a lot of love and effort flowed into this cellar to create this ambiente. The wine selection is huge and I can recommend the "Grüner Veltiner" from the "KHS" vineyard located in Austria which we had chosen for our menu. Thanks for the great experience and we'll come again for sure if we are in...
