When in Bruges everyone says you have to try fries, so I chose this place since it had many good reviews. But it seems those reviews may not apply if you are Chinese.

There were about ten people queuing outside. While waiting, someone told me that for takeaway you do not need to queue and can go directly inside. So I went in, but the staff blocked me and asked what I was doing. When I said I wanted takeaway, he rudely told me that everyone outside was also waiting for takeaway. I had no choice but to go back and queue again.

Not long after, a white customer did the same thing and walked inside without queuing. This time the staff explained politely that the line outside was also for takeaway. The difference in attitude was very clear and very disappointing.

When it was finally my turn, the same staff member asked me “where are you from.” I replied “Hong Kong” and he immediately told me to scan a QR code to see the menu in my language. I was very confused, because I had been speaking in English with him the whole time. Why would he assume I did not understand English? In the end we ordered with another staff member in English without any problem at all.

As for the fries, they were very average, no different from what I had on the cruise ship. Definitely not worth the attitude or the wait.

I felt I was treated differently because of where I am from, which was disappointing and unprofessional. Hard to believe in this day and age there are still people who treat customers differently. And yet they still want tourist business? Information travels...

Unexpected Gem in Bruges – A Must-Visit!

When I first arrived at this place, I honestly didn’t have high expectations. I was pretty reluctant to go, and if I had my way, we might have chosen somewhere else entirely. But I was outvoted by the group—and I’m actually really glad I was. This spot turned out to be one of the most pleasant surprises of our entire trip.

I ordered the chicken burger, and to say it exceeded my expectations would be an understatement. It was absolutely delicious—hands down the best chicken burger I had during the whole holiday. The chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy, and well-seasoned, with just the right amount of crispiness. The bun was fresh, and the toppings balanced everything nicely. It really hit the spot after a long day of sightseeing.

The fries (or frites, as they’re called locally) were also excellent—golden, crispy, and full of flavor. What really elevated them was the sauce that came with them. I don’t know exactly what was in it, but it was rich and creamy with a slight tang that worked perfectly with the fries. I could’ve easily eaten another portion!

Even the bathroom deserves a quick mention—it was small, but very clean and tidy, which isn't always the case with casual food places.

All in all, this place completely turned around my expectations. Sometimes being outvoted pays off! If you're visiting Bruges and looking for a tasty, satisfying meal, I’d absolutely recommend giving this...

So where to start we came here when it was very very busy and the man who was running around looking after everybody made space for us and provided brilliant service throughout he really is a credit to the place and without him I am not sure they would've handled how busy it was. There are plenty of options but we both went for the signature dishes my partner had pork I had chilli cheese, we also had a sausage on the side and some chilli cheese bites both of them were good but realistically we came here for the chips so that's what it comes down to. Firstly the toppings and flavours were great the chilli cheese was full of toppings and really tasty as was my partners pork dish with plenty of toppings. The chips were good but they were not great that's the only reason I haven't given 5 stars they were a little soggy but in all fairness this comes down to the toppings as much as anything but we had some great chips while in Belgium but these just were not quite as good but we are talking about a very high standard and I would happily eat here again as it varies from everywhere else as it throws in alot more variations so definitely go there and the burgers looked great. But yes the service was the real winner here and he deserves alot of credit for how...

There were queues outside for this place which is a great sign. We were looking for a place which made fries cooked in vegetable oil and this was the only place we could find. Most places in Belgium cook their chips/fries in beef fat and being vegetarian that was a no go for me. The loaded fries are definitely worth the wait here and I went for the veggie chilli loaded fries. My reason for giving this place 4 stars instead of 5 is purely down to the service. The portion sizes were huge and my daughter and I wanted to share the fries. I asked for the truffle mayo to be served on the side instead of on top as my daughter doesn’t like mayo. The response I got was ‘no we can’t do that as it will confuse the staff if there are too many changes’. You either have it, don’t have it or order it as a separate side’. That was it - no flexibility to put the mayo on the side. For me that wasn’t so much the issue but it was the tone and manner in which the response was delivered. Given the queues outside this place and the good food I guess even if service is below standard, they aren’t bothered as they have the numbers coming through the door. Go there for the food but don’t expect much on the service side.
