We stopped by Otto on our trip to Brugge because I heard they were serving the limited edition "Duke of Burgundy" waffle and turns out we found the best waffle place in Brugge.

They serve fresh-made waffles made of oat and shaped like the Brugge lace. It was by far the best waffles I've ever had in Belgium, slightly crunchy on the outside but still soft enough it melts in your mouth. I skipped the coconut sugar, and it was the perfect level of sweetness for me.

The Duke of Burgundy, created by Otto being inspired by a medieval recipe of waffles dating back to the 15th century. It's an usual waffle by today's standards since it's a savory one comes with a cream-cheese like fresh filling, coriander seeds and raspberry, and it's served cold. Do try it out if it's still on their menu!

We also tried their house-made ice-cream, as Bart suggested and it was delicious.

We enjoyed our treats on the terrace at the back, it has a beautiful view of the canal and you get to wave the tourists on boat tour while you devour Otto's waffles.

The service was beyond amazing! All the staff is very kind and helpful, and although we were occupying the much-needed space inside their small store, we chatted for quite a bit of time. Shout out to Bart! We were lucky enough to meet the boss Otto himself that day as well, he was just as nice as everyone working there.

We'll definitely visit Otto again if...

Disappointed by the Rude Staff – Not Worth the Hype

I was genuinely looking forward to trying Otto Waffle Atelier after seeing all the buzz online, but my experience was far from pleasant. The staff were surprisingly rude and dismissive. Not only did they fail to greet us properly, but when we asked a few simple questions about the menu (especially since everything looked unfamiliar and specific), they gave no explanation whatsoever—just short, unhelpful answers and impatient attitudes.

It felt like we were bothering them just by being there. There was zero effort to make customers feel welcome or even informed about what they’re ordering. For a place that seems so curated and “aesthetic,” the service was completely unprofessional and lacking any basic courtesy.

Honestly, the waffles weren’t anything special to justify the poor service and high price. A beautiful product doesn’t matter if it’s served with arrogance and coldness. Very disappointed. I would not recommend this place unless they seriously improve their...

Not a Belgium waffle, not a Liege waffle, it's Otto Waffle! 😊 If you have already tried Belgium and Liege waffles, it's time to taste a waffle by Otto. I won't promise it's better but it's definitely very unique taste experience. It teases your buds because of original taste and your eyes because of beautiful lace pattern and beautiful presentation of all extras on the waffle. Despite it wouldn't be my first choice from waffle list, I appreciate that the waffles are oat-based, gluten-free, lactose-free, made with local seasonal products and combination of ingredients is unique. Amazing ice cream. Good choice of waffles. The place is really cosy, you can enjoy your waffle outside by the canal (there is a small patio on the back of Otto Atelier) or on the bridge nearby or inside (standing place). The staff is very friendly and the service very quick. If you're lucky enough, you see Otto making...

Otto Waffles in Bruges offers a delightful treat, but a few aspects could enhance the overall experience. The waffles themselves are undeniably nice, boasting a delicious flavor and perfect texture. However, they are quite small, especially considering the price. This leads to a feeling of being a bit short-changed, as the portion size doesn't quite match expectations. Furthermore, the toppings provided are minimal, which further emphasizes the small size of the waffle. For the price, I honestly expected a plate and proper cutlery rather than a takeaway wrapper, which would elevate the experience and make it feel more like a sit-down treat. On a very positive note, the coffee and ice cream were truly excellent. Both were of high quality and thoroughly enjoyable. To be honest, I would definitely return to Otto Waffles just for the coffee and ice cream.
