I wasn’t going to post this review but sadly I have seen the reply from the establishment under my partner’s review and I feel this was really horrible of you guys to respond like this.
We attended this cafe today for breakfast. There was a long queue and we waited in the line for around 20 minutes.
When we were seated my partners legs did not fit under the table so the waitress kindly and reasonably gave us another table.
Then a waiter came with some water and I very politely said we would not like any thank you. Upon hearing this he frowned and asked “oh you don’t want any WAAATER?” And we said “no thank you so much though”. He then asked to take our order. We ordered two lattes, one “The Classic” and one “All Day Breakfast Plate” however for the all day breakfast plate my partner said he did not want any beans. The waiter said ok and left. In about a minutes’ time a different waitress came and took another tables order where they wanted something removed and she offered them a substitution option of mushrooms. It seems to me that certain members of staff are kind enough to do this but it is not common practice to offer this to all customers? Was there a particular reason we were not offered a substitution?
A few minutes later a waitress brought the coffees and said “two cappuccinos” and we said “oh cappuccinos we asked for latte we don’t think this is ours” and she responded with “cappucino latte the same thing”. I would explain the difference to her but I don’t think she would understand or care. The lack of care and attention was upsetting.
The food came quite quickly after. My partners food was cold. The sausages were two different colours and not the ones we are used to. His food was bad in all honesty. My classic toast on the other hand was quite tasty except for the tiny poached egg.
We ate and thanked everyone, paid and left.
My partner wrote an honest review and although the establishment did not like what he had to say, they do not need to call him names. This is unprofessional, you should be asking what was wrong and how to future improve your services. We came here due to your high reviews and are leaving these reviews for you to consider making some very much needed changes. I would like to personally ask you to please be kinder and more respectful of all customers in the future, both in...
Read moretl;dr: them folks know their toast. Beware of dishes that are too “bready” like the triples. Very good coffee and service. Must go for brunch lovers.
Since the place was very conveniently located next to our hotel, we decided to pop in for brunch one day. Too full, no dice. Went back earlier the next day, and success was achieved 😀 (book in advance or go early in the morning).
To start with, they had the best coffee I had in Bruges (which is of course personal). Full bodied, drinkable as soon as it was served, sized appropriately. Big points. The menu is (as you might have guessed) centered around toast. It’s also written in a pretty fun way, had some laughs.
I opted for the triple madame because Serrano ham. It comes topped with an egg and alfalfa sprouts. I felt like there could be more cheese between the layers, because in the end it felt pretty dry and bready. I would opt for a single piece of toast next time (everybody else was very content with their choice). Other than that, it was quite tasty indeed! I got sweet potato on the side, which for some reason I expected to be fries or chips of some sort, but instead are actual sweet potato slices which are seemingly lightly boiled, so they retain some consistency but aren’t mushy or too hard. This misalignment is entirely on me of course. The place serves healthier meals so I should’ve known better than to assume fried stuff.
Service was also flawless here, with stuff coming pretty fast. Definitely a very good experience and I can easily...
Read moreThat’s Toast in Brugge is an incredibly popular spot, and it’s easy to see why. Getting a table here seems almost impossible, but one lucky day, we managed to snag a spot. Now, we completely understand the hype. The dishes and their quality are superb, living up to every bit of their stellar reputation.
The menu is diverse and creative, with options that cater to all tastes. Each dish is prepared with fresh ingredients and presented beautifully. We particularly enjoyed the avocado toast and the fluffy pancakes, both bursting with flavor and freshness.
The service is another highlight. Despite the rush, the staff remained friendly, attentive, and efficient, ensuring we had everything we needed. They made us feel welcome and added to the overall positive experience.
We were especially happy to find a cozy, sunny corner on the terrace, which added to the charm of our visit. Sitting there, basking in the sunshine, made our meal even more enjoyable and relaxing.
Given how fantastic everything was, I would love to come back more often. However, the difficulty of getting a table is a major drawback. If it were easier to secure a spot, That’s Toast would definitely become a regular go-to for us. It’s a place worth the effort to visit, but a bit more accessibility would...
