Honestly speaking the concept sounds great, but the dinning is restricted both from the menu stand point and from the atmosphere (despite being in total darkness you can feel the large number of tables with people scrambled in a hotel's conference room). Too noisy and crowded.
The food, even though you cannot see it, one could feel and taste that it significantly differs from the photos revealed after the dinner.
The service is lovely and it is an eye-opening experience for people without visual impairment. Empathizing with the staff and experiencing their difficulties (even for a brief moment of time) is formidable. Regarding the price paid for the food I wouldn't recommend it, though.
Please keep in mind that you are not allowed to stand up during the dinner (of course, you can ask for it, but it would be a bit challenging, given the...
Read moreA nice concept, to eat in the dark, but I think a lot can be improved still. Now it is just what it is, eating in total darkness. As you don't know where the food is on your plate you easily mix things by accident and gentle taste differences are lost.. it would be good if the way the food is presented gets adapted too to the total darkness. Your senses sharpen in darkness, so letting taste different delicate tastes would be then an added experience. So I would propose to present the food in by l bite size portions presented on different spoons ordered on the plate in the order how to eat them so you can vary the intensity of the taste as well. It allows you to introduce much more variation and it guarantees that the delicate taste stays preserved and allows you to, instead of mixing all by accident, maximize the sensory experience of eating...
Read moreIt’s a nice concept for sure, and people are willing to pay that much for the experience. The servants are considerate and I like them engaging visually challenged people as their employees. What I found a bit pity is the following: 1 I would expect the smell of the food and taste to be more prominent since you cannot see anything, you wait the other sensations to be triggered. The food is rather bland in my opinion.
2 Apart from the first excitement of walking to the seat in a group. It lacks more entertainment. A bit visual effect presentation would be nice. Without anything else, soon it turned out to be a noisy canteen in the dark.
3 The supplementary cocktail (chargeable) is too basic. If you want to upsell your cocktail, you need a barman making nice looking cocktails, not two welcoming ladies randomly mix some...
