Don't bother! Awful service, misleading menu and extremely overpriced! Where to begin....
We first popped in while passing and it all looked lovely and were excited to try it out, as we were told about the big menu on offer amongst other things. When we got there we sat in the garden and it was lovely, but then they sprung a set menu on us which was very expensive and it was that or we leave. This, of course, annoyed us a bit as we were stuck with that menu and didn't expect to pay €120 for brunch!! Next, the service was appalling! It took us 15 minutes to even get a menu and then it took even longer to have our order taken. The waiter was rude and made assumptions about us being French, even though we're British? Nothing was explained to us about choosing pain au chocolat or bread etc so we were quite confused. After this, the drinks come over and they were not what we had seen on the menu. My apple juice came out as apple and cherry and the homemade lemonade came out as a ginger and lemonade drink without the lemonade. Coffee apparently was nice though. They also missed a drink and we had to chase them over 30 minutes to receive it along with another greek yoghurt. The food was very misleading. What you ordered was not what you received. I ordered le rustique and parts of it were nice, but it was COVERED in smoked paprika (did not say this on the menu). So my meal was terrible and when I asked to change it, they said no!! Outrageous. Another order we received had their bacon swapped for pastrami, and they didn't even come to us to check that was ok, they just assumed that we would be ok with that! Also, the waiter reassured us that on one of the plates there would be 2 eggs and then behold! Only 1 egg. When we spoke to the staff, they did not care at all. In fact, they didn't even apologise. The staff were the most disappointing restaurant/cafe staff I have ever encountered and I have been fortunate enough to dine out across many many places in Brussels, France, UK and around the world. AVOID THIS PLACE AND GO...
Read moreFood was really good but overall a messy experience. The waitress forgot to forward our order to the kitchen, so we had to wait for one hour (!!) for our food to arrive. That’s crazy for just lunch. Such a shame, because that’s why we had to cancel our booked timeslot at the Horta Museum. In the meantime the waitress didn’t take our orders for new drinks and told us the food was arriving any minute, while the waiting went on an on. Then when the food finally arrived, we got offered complementary drinks on the house. Good! So we thought.. while checking the bill I noticed the ‘complementary’ drinks were still on the bill. I then had to argue with the same waitress that offered them to take them off. She then rolled her eyes and said something in French that I couldn’t understand. Rest of the staff was very friendly, but communication with colleagues AND guests is key to a well functioning restaurant. I hope you guys take notes, because the service being that bad is a waste of such a...
Read moreOrdered the 29.9€ brunch formula which contained 1 main dish, 1 juice, 1 coffee, 1 bowl of yogurt and granola, 1 viennoiserie basket and 1 dessert. Here’s my opinion :
Pros: the truffle aroma was strong in the “truffée” omelette plate was good, I also loved the texture of the omelette; it was very tasty The juices were very fresh The yogurt bowl was super tasty although small The pain perdu was the highlight of the brunch: very fruity and tasty the staff is super friendly and the ambiance was very cosy
Cons sauce hollandaise that came with the egg benedicts was a DISASTER. Since when the sauce hollandaise contains cumin!?? And why its color is neon color and is tasteless? The carrot cake was dry - luckily the layers were separated with frosting which made the taste better, but overall, I didn’t like it The presentation of the “truffé” plate was messy- could be better
So was it worth it to pay this much for this...
