Mamma Roma — Restaurant in Etterbeek

It was our first visit to Mamma Roma, and we were very disapointed with the service. We don't know if it was our unlucky day, to be served by an unfriendly waitress. No smile, no "hello" or other polite words. Apparently, asking her about the weight of the pizza is too much. ( How do I know more or less how much I will pay ? ). And the informations about the lunch menu was not very clear, asking her about it ( Ok, 2 parts of pizzas and a drink, but what is the size or weight of it ? Like how do I know ? ). Moreover, why all the waiters/waitresses had something to secure their hair ( First thing about hygiene in a "restaurant" ), but this one hasn't. It seems like I search the little details, but honestly, she wasn't...

We went around 12:00 noon on a Friday and were the only people in the restaurant. At about 1:00 the place was FULL! The pizza was delicious, not too heavy and the toppings were fresh. We ordered the slice with potato, cheese and truffle sauce recommended by a friend who lives in brussels. It was delicious! A slightly different flavor than traditional pizza but the addition of the truffle gave it a very distinct taste. I would absolutely order it again. If you don't like truffle they have many other flavors as well with meats, vegetables, red sauces and mozzarella cheese. Got told that none of the slices I wanted from the menu are available, I could only pick the ones currently exposed in the counter. In my experience that means you can queue for 20min and eat something you didn't even want. Because it was rush hour, the very "friendly" lady at the counter told me (and many others) to wait by the stairs and pick my own food when it will be prepared by her colleague (which seemed reheating for 10min). Traditional "al taglio" is made in a real oven and gets sold by weight. Zero service, 2 stars taste, highly overpriced street...
