Ristorante Antas — Restaurant in Etterbeek

.Never give a bad review: if there's a problem, have a quiet word. Unless... Back in the day, both in the original and current premises, Antas was pretty damn good. Invariably packed with chattering Italians, devouring plates of perfect pasta lubricated with quaffings of vino. Since COVID I've been a couple of times, both of which were disappointing: the Italian staff replaced with non-Italians, the food indifferent. Two years since the last time I thought I'd try one more time. Oh dear. Asked for a Campari soda, was offered tonic. Had to explain how eau pétillante was the soda. Spaghetti alla Bortaga was as salty as the sea and swimming in oil. I left half. 'It's salty because of the botarga' she said. I pointed out, nicely, that's not true, plus, if I hadn't ordered botarga I would never have suspected its presence. I asked for the bill. THIRTY ONE euros. The spag was 19 so the Campari soda was TWELVE. Really? No apology, no offer of a coffee/limoncello/Grappa or something off the bill... which is why I'm taking the bother to write this. Most of the produce here comes from their excellent Sardinian shop around the corner, Dai Sardi. Go there, grab some pasta and botarga and make your own. I suggest a Campari...

Spent a very good time with friends here. I was really surprised when I found out about a Sardinian restaurant in Brussels and I absolutely had to try it. The waiters were incredibly nice and the service was really fast, so that's already a big plus. I ordered culurgioni in bianco, though they didn't taste the way I expected. Maybe it's just a different recipe from what I'm used to? I tried a bite of my friend's malloreddus however and I can say those did taste amazing. A pretty harsh competition with my grandma's I'd say! As dessert I ordered a seada and that also tasted exactly as I remembered. Never again! Waited about 30' until they brought the menu and then equally long time to come take our order. We ordered the same pasta dish twice requesting that for one the sauce should have no olives and the answer from the waitress was not possible because the chef is very busy. So bad customer service. First time in my life a waitress is denying to bring me the dish that I order not because it is not available but because the chef is busy. Ridiculous.
