Maison de Khinkali — Restaurant in Ganshoren

First things first: the food is amazing. Not the best Georgian food I've ever had, but was still very very good (especially the khachapuri, which was one of the best I've ever eaten).

The giant problem: the wait. I am not exaggerating when I say this almost ruined the evening. We sat down at 8pm, ordered after 20 mins, and the first things we ordered (even the bread) arrived 1 hour later. Our last food item arrived at 11:20pm.

This was absolutely ridiculous and not okay.

For example: Every table ordered Khinkalis, but instead of making a big batch and bringin them to some tables at the same time, they made the Khinkali portions ONE AT A TIME for each table. This is not a staffing issue, it's a kitchen organisational issue.

I really love this place, it’s such an authentic Georgian restaurant! I’ve been here several times, and the lady who serves is always super friendly and welcoming. The only downside is the waiting time. We waited about an hour for our food (and the same thing happened the last time too). After waiting so long, we ended up finishing everything in about 30 minutes because we were starving and a bit grumpy hahaha because of that, we couldn’t really enjoy the food properly while eating. Still, the food was absolutely delicious and totally worth it in the end. It just felt like the long delay affected the evening a bit. I’d definitely come back again because the dishes are amazing, they just need to work a little on the kitchen...

I would recommend the hand-made dough dishes, although the wait time for them is on the longer side. We were told that one of the dishes would take around 20 mins, when in reality it took 40. The menu could use more variety. The meat dishes are ok but not like in Georgia, with missing ingredients and condiments. One of the meat dishes came out cold and we had to ask for it to be reheated. The restaurant needs more hands attending to the tables. The wait time and price are not fitting for the variety and quality of the food.
